âSiriusâŚâ Remus sighs as he sits across from you and the man in question.Â
âIf you have a problem, I hope you know that I donât care,â you feel the tattooist smirk against your temple as he presses another searing kiss into your skin. The tension from the room hasnât fully dissipated yet, however, most of the fiction was swept aside leaving the air clear enough for a more civil conversation.Â
With Siriusâ insistence, you were left no choice but to sit in his lap as Remus sits across from you. This left James to sit all on his lonesome, occupying the grandfather chair to your left as a warm smile reveals his asymmetrical dimple, directed solely at you.Â
Remus groans in frustration and stands to his full height in order to pull his sleeveless sweater off. Sirius peppers light kisses along the column of your neck but it isnât quite enough to distract you from the image of Remus undoing the top buttons of his button-up shirt nor the way he rolls up the sleeves to his elbows - a weak attempt at trying to cool down from the heat of the previous encounter.Â
Youâre tempted to look down once again but are too embarrassed to do so; the images that pervade your mind are too inappropriate and they taint the gentle and kind image you have of Remus⌠Although, maybe that isnât too bad. A gentle giant masking an indelicate second face was quite attractive in your eyes. Maybe heâll finally suit the rouge-ish image that comes to mind when you take in his many tattoos, which were often suppressed by his soft, dark academia-inspired fashion.Â
Massaging away some of the tension in his taut wrists, his large and veiny hands on full display, Remus sits back down with a frown, âThis is a fucking messââ
ââyouâre a fucking mess,â Sirius shoots back, a mischievous hint in his tone as the heat in your cheeks continue to increase until youâre positive you have steam steadily rising out of your ears.Â
âThis is serious, Sirius,â Remus calls his name almost mockingly and the icy stare Sirius sends him in return is so icy you feel the chill run down your spine without having to look.Â
âOh, I am serious, donât you know who I am?â before the tension could rise to dangerous levels again, you launch yourself off of Siriusâ lap, willing the butterflies from your stomach away and suppressing all imagery of the affection Sirius was just drowning you. It was his attempt at distracting you from the tense situation but youâre fed up of it now. It also breaks your heart seeing them like this when you know their true affections for one another. Â
âThatâs enough!â you stand as strong as the finality ringing in your statement, âyou two need to make up!â Remus and Sirius face the point of your accusing finger with disgruntled expressions, âI thought you two loved each other,â your disappointed tone makes their shoulders sag in shame and their eyes avoid one anotherâs.Â
âDove, pleaseââ
ââListenâŚâ the careful intonation in your voice doesnât go unnoticed and wills them to hear you out with care, lips sealed shut, âyou were both right â you both had good reason to act the way you did and I canât blame either of you for wanting to steer things into a certain direction but Iâm also to blame for this, okay? I was horrible at communicating my true emotions and that led to a lot of unnecessary heartache on both sides,â with a deep breath, you establish your resolve, âcanât we all just make up and move forward together?â everyone in the room knows that when you said âweâ, what you really meant was just Remus and Sirius.Â
James has been an absolute angel throughout all of this, collateral damage to their bickering and unloving behaviour towards each other; stuck between a rock and a hard place. You only have sympathy for him being caught up in the middle of it all. Â
âDove, itâs notââ
You swiftly interrupt, âI love all of you,â your confession makes them all stutter and flush pink in the cheeks. Itâs an image that makes you smile warmly just before insecurity creeps over and your smile turns shy, âdonât⌠donât you love me too?âŚâ it was now clear in their actions that they reciprocated your romantic affections and so you werenât wrong to assume that they wanted you to take part in their relationshipâŚright?
The drawn out silence that followed was too much for you to bear. Even after taking some of the blame off their shoulders and confessing your love, they were still too stubborn to admit their wrongs and make up. Huffing, you make your disappointment and frustrations known with a deep frown, thoroughly concealing your heartache from their silence .
âWe just needââ Sirius finally begins, stubborn as ever, only to be glared at harshly by both, Remus and James. This was not the right time for excuses. You had just worded your true feelings for them and they needed to reciprocate in kind. But those words were hard to come by, the timing for a confession also wasnât ideal for the moment. Then again, when would it ever be. Theyâve all just proven how incompetent they were at emotions despite being in such a loving relationship, and yet, you were still willing to accept and be with them romantically. The words they have for you reached beyond that of just love; they were also grateful, astonished and embarrassed for their incompetence.Â
âI love you too, angel, so so much,â James finally speaks up, eyes bright and his smile warm with his adoration of you. He ignores the high tension in the room, eyes fixed solely on you as he glowed like the summer sun but he doesnât reach out for you in any way, he simply sits and admires. Admires how beautiful you look, admires how strong you are, admires how loving and sweet you remain despite all the trouble and anguish theyâve put you through. Â
You feel the world disappear around you and narrow your focus onto the only person you were grateful for in the room at that moment. Year heart pounds with warmth and devotion and all you want to do is be close to him. Helping yourself into Jamesâ lap, you smile up at the bewildered look on this handsome face, âOh James, youâre my only saving grace,â
James smiles at your words as his arms wrap around your waist, securing you in place, âyeah?â his voice is a faint whisper and airy with his adoration for you.Â
âYeah,â reaching up, your arms wrap around his neck and pull him close so you can press your face under his chin. Behind you, you feel the baffled attention of Sirius and Remus, âhow about I feed you some lunch again? Like we always used to do?â
Without waiting for an answer, you lean over to swipe up one of your lunch containers and proceed to feed him, completely ignoring the grumbling and whining emitting from Sirius and Remus.Â
âI like your thinking, angel,â James giggles adorably and happily accepts your affections as the two of you silently agree to ignore the other two until they make up. In the mean time, youâll enjoy each otherâs company in your own little bubble of love.Â
âHow does it taste?â you ask sweetly, blatantly ignoring Remus and Sirius, sitting side-ways on Jamesâ lap but keeping your full attention on him.Â
âDelicious! More than delicious!â James exaggerates and basks in the bell-like giggles he draws from you, he doesnât want the sound to ever stop, âYouâre always such a great cook, angel!â
âI made it all with love, just for you, Jamie~â
He hums low and appreciative, âIâm so fucking lucky, arenât I?âÂ
As you continue to feed him, James takes the opportunity to look over your shoulder and smirk at the miserable faces of his two lovers. They know they deserved this unfair treatment. They also know that, to remedy it, all they have to do is abandon their pride and apologise, which is always worth it when your love is on the line â it should be easy for them. All things considered, this was just light punishment.
Faced with only one solution, Remus and Sirius turn to each other. Sirius still grumbles under his breath as Remus sighs. The brunette accepts that it was entirely his fault for pushing Sirius to suppress his natural way of loving just for his own personal fear that things would turn out horribly, otherwise. And judging from the way Sirius avoids his eyes and continues to whine, Remus knows itâs up to him to make amends.Â
âBut itâs not so badâ, Remus smiles to himself; seeing one of his beloved partners grumpy and stubborn was oddly charming. And now that most of the conflict has dissolved, Remus had no other reason to hold back an apology other than for his own personal pride.Â
Making his way over, Remus kneels down beside his grumbling lover and whispers his name affectionately, âSirius,â Remus waits, patient and unhurried, until his beloved in question finally looks at him. As soon as they meet eyes, Remus is left thinking the same devoted thought heâs always had when drowning in his boyfriendâs diamond-grey eyes, âhow did I get so lucky?â which is then quickly followed by a guilty, âwhy did I ever let it get this far?â
âRemus,âÂ
âIâm sorry,â the piercer doesnât wait for a response and, almost desperately, leans up to capture Siriusâ lips. The kiss is filled with emotions, a mix of sincerity, love and forgiveness. The sentiments were so keen they almost smother the murmured, unspoken words on Siriusâ tongue, âwhat was that, love?â Remus asks against his loverâs lips, unable to pull away fully. He missed thisâŚ
âIâm sorry tooâŚâ
It was a unanimous decision to have you spend the night at the boysâ shared flat. Theyâve been kept away from you for too long and tonight they wanted to make up for lost time. High on emotions and desperately missing their presence in your life too, you agree as long as you dropped by your place first for a change of clothes. But not before having Remus and Sirius apologise to James for their neglect of him.Â
âYou know, we really are so happy to have you in our lives, dollface,â Sirius utters, leaving feathery kisses on your lips as he pushes the door to their flat open whilst carrying your duffle bag for you. He was kind enough to take you to and from your flat on his motorcycle just for the quick collection of your night time essentials.Â
âIâm happy youâre in my life too, Siri,â the situation has finally dawned on you but you still canât believe the events that have lead you to this very moment.Â
âStop hogging her, Padfoot!â James whines, sweeping you off your feet and hurrying to the living room with you in his arms. Once there, he sits you on his lap triumphantly, âAha! Youâre finally mine!â he cheers and attacks your neck with a flourish of kisses, tickling you and infecting the air with your melodic giggles.Â
âNow youâre hogging her Prongs, stop being a hypocrite!â Sirius pants lightly after rushing to the scene from the hallway, a grin plastered on his lips despite his accusing words.Â
From the kitchen, Remus smiles to himself at the sounds of merriment in the air and continues to cook dinner.Â
This is how it should beâŚ
Remus wanted to sort the conflict with Sirius out more, so he insisted that you spend the night in Jamesâ bed which you happily agree shyly, James grinning widely at your side. All three of you agree as Sirius whines and makes adorable grabbing motions at you but itâs no use as Remus keeps the tattooist pressed tightly against his side, dragging him off and trapping him in his room for the night. The sight made you giggle but it was a brief reprieve from the anxious nerves that soon had you avoiding Jamesâ eyes.Â
âYouâre so cute,â James whispers affectionately at your shy behaviour, resisting the urge to kiss you as he leads you to his room and gestures to his en suite, âyou can change in there, beautiful, I can change out here and brush my teeth at the kitchen sink instead,âÂ
With a small smile, you move past him with your duffle, eager to get ready for bed but squeal in surprise when you feel a teasing pinch at your ass. An explosion of heat blooms across your cheeks when you glance over your shoulder and observe Jamesâ sly wink and devious smirk directed at you.Â
âJamesâ!â
âAngel with a cutest ass, arenât I a lucky bastard?â he chuckles and presses a devoted, almost possessive, kiss onto your lips, âI never did say thank you for making those two apologise to me,â he purrs and nips at your bottom lip, âyou make me feel seenâŚgod, I love you so much,â you squeak into the fierce kiss that follows, almost losing yourself in the embrace but pry yourself away with a squeal when his hands travel too low and squeeze greedily at your ass.Â
You rush into the bathroom with butterflies in your stomach as James licks his lips and laughs merrily. Heâs come to love teasing you and you didnât know whether to argue or welcome it with open arms. Shaking the thoughts out of your head, you move on to change into your pyjamas - an oversized shirt and shorts - before proceeding with your night time skincare routine. For a moment, you contemplated taking a shower but rule against it, not wanting to prolong your night time routine. No more than fifteen minutes later, you were out of the en suite bathroom feeling refreshed and ready for bed but giggle at the sight of James already tucked under the covers. He looks so cosy and innocent, it almost makes you forget about his devious behaviour earlier on.Â
âAll ready?â James asks with his usual boyish grin and sits up, allowing the covers to drop from his chest, at which point you quickly realise that James is a liar. He didnât need to change into anything! All he did was take off his shirt and he was all set for bed! âI changed into comfier pyjama pants, though,â he argues lightly as you slip into the right side of the bed.Â
âThatâs just half changing!â your retort has him laughing aloud, your flustered state beyond amusing and incredibly adorable in his eyes.
âAm I making you shy, princess?~â
ââŚNo,â Â
âOh yes I am~â
âGo to sleep, James,â
âNot without a goodnight kiss from my angel,â he leans over you with his naked chest on full display and you stutter in embarrassment, âdonât be shy, come and give me a fat smooch~â he puckers his lips above you and awaits your compliance with closed eyes.Â
âJamesââ
âIâm a very patient man, darling, I can do this all night long,â
âNo youâre not,â
âYes I am,â
âYouâre not,â
âI am,â
âNot!â
He finally peaks an eye open. Then slowly opens both eyes as he un-puckers his lips to smirk down at you, caged in between his muscular arms as he props himself up with his elbows, âYou just like staring at my beautifully muscular chest donât you?â you watch as his ego inflates to dangerous levels right in front of you, âMy tattoos turn you on too, angel?~â
âOh for goodness sake!â you finally relent and lean upwards, your smile matching his own when you finally capture his lips in his much desired, goodnight kiss. With one arm holding himself up, James uses his spare hand to hold your face in place, prolonging the kiss. You have no choice but to accept his needy demands as your hand searches his bedside table for his lamp switch.Â
Morning comes with you groaning in discomfort as a syrupy wetness coats your inner thighs and painful pangs make you want to curl up into a ball. Your bleary morning fog makes the situation difficult to decipher but the realisation soon comes crashing down like a landslide and you lift the covers with a scream, the scent of iron becoming more potent. Beside you, James jumps awake, fully alert as his worried, hazel eyes scan you, trying to discern what may be the problem.Â
âWhatâs wrong, angel?â he asks, voice deep and groggy with sleep but dripping in concern.
âJames, Iâm so sorry,â you sob into your hands and curl up into yourself, hiding your face away from him.Â
âWhat do you mean?â he reaches forward, inching closer to you in the process and quickly realising whatâs wrong when he feels an unusual wetness seep through his thin pyjama pants, âoh angel, donât be upset, itâs okay,â he coos, gently prying your hands away from your face so he can kiss your forehead tenderly, âitâs normal. Are you okay?â he asks softly, looking over you without an ounce of judgement or anger on his face, only concern and soft, kind, heart-fluttering love in his eyes.Â
âTh-the bloodââ
âI donât care about the blood,â he insists gently, âI just want to make sure that youâre okay,â you remain silent from the embarrassment but heâs understanding, âdo you want me to get you some painkillers?â
As soon as you give an affirming nod, heâs out of bed and hurrying down the hall. It doesnât take very long for him to come back to you, a glass of water in one hand and a pack of painkillers in the other.Â
âThank you,â you finally utter with a small smile, still upset at having ruined the sheets but so incredibly grateful for his tolerance. Patiently, he waits for you to take your dosage before heâs sweeping you up in his arms and carrying you into his en suite.Â
âGet cleaned up, angel,â he voices into you hair before placing you back on your feet, âIâll change the sheets in the mean time,â he leaves you with a kiss before you could utter another word of apology. He wasnât going to take it, he made that very clear, because it wasnât your fault. And it was nothing a little oxi stain remover couldnât fix.Â
The start to the day wasnât ideal but James, Remus and Sirius made one of the most agonising and frustrating times of the month for you much more enjoyable. James woke his two lovers up while you were showering in his bathroom, thanking your lucky stars that you bought a spare change of clothes just in case you wanted to shower, and they all made the effort of getting you comfortable.Â
James changed his bedsheets and laid a dark coloured towel down for you to lay on top of just to catch any more potential leakage. He made sure you didnât see his bloodied sheets again too so that you wouldnât continue feeling guilty and happily took care of the stains away from your line of sight. Sirius worked on breakfast as Remus made you some tea and a hot water bottle and, before James steps out of the flat to buy you period pads, you hear Remus call out helpfully, âlook for the long, heavy flow pads and make sure to get the ones with wings,â their thoughtfulness makes you smile.Â
âHow did you know to get these ones?â you ask when James comes back, panting as he hands you the pack of pads through the door of his en suite.Â
âRemus told me, and I heard girls experience heavier flows on the first few days,â his answer draws out a proud smile. You have no doubt youâd be well taken care of in this relationship, though it does make you bashful.Â
âThank you, James,âÂ
For breakfast Sirius cooked you french toast with strawberries and honey, apparently it was the only good thing he could cook. Remus balanced the sweetness of the meal out with some eggs and toast, while James brought over the tea and hot water bottle Remus had also prepared. Breakfast was pleasant but they boys were insistent that you stay in Jamesâ bed and call if you needed anything. As much as they wanted to spend the full day right by your side, they were preparing to make the announcement of returning their business into full operations and were still taking calls and responding to client emails at home. You didnât argue, you knew the shop was important to them so you didnât want to be a burden.Â
The day drags by and you know theyâve made it clear that you could freely call out to them whenever but the hours drag by and they havenât heard a single peep. They didnât mean to lose their full attention in their work; itâs been so long since they were last filled with the motivation to keep up with their business that emails and paperwork on equipment orders had piled up significantly so they were swamped. Thankfully they were finally inspired enough that the work didnât feel laborious. Unfortunately, that meant seeing them in their element though Jamesâ open doorway and shying away from redirecting their attention back to you.Â
It wasnât until you willed yourself to walk to their kitchen that you finally caught their attention. All phone calls, email responses and paperwork filing was stopped as soon as you stepped into their line of sight when your craving for a snack became too much. They had gone for a quick shop to buy you an array of snacks from sweet to savoury that morning and had left the bag on their kitchen counter. You were just reaching for the bag when Remus caught your wrist and swept you up into his arms in order to carry you back into Jamesâ bed.Â
All three of them felt incredibly guilty for having neglected you, unintentional or not, they even neglected themselves in the process by prioritising their work and forgetting about lunch. In Remusâ head, everything circled back to the night before as a chain of linked events. As you laid in bed, curled up and nibbling on a chocolate bar, you watch and listen as Remus scolds the two about how, if the outburst didnât happen, they wouldnât have asked you to stay the night, you wouldnât have agreed and you wouldnât have had to suffer from their incompetent care. Remus was being too hard on himself, which reflected directly onto Sirius and James.
âThis is why I said we needed to be careful and. To. Be. Patient,â Remus snarls under his breath, almost growling at Sirius and James who stand at the foot of the bed. James nods with a disappointed sigh as Sirius crosses his arms and huffs in defiance. Theyâre developing a bad habit of speaking about you when youâre still in the same room but, at least, it means their thoughts are open to you.
âI didnât see you complain when you watched James and I practically devouring her sweet little mouth yesterday,â Siriusâ challenging comment makes the tips of Jamesâs ears turn visibly pink as an embarrassing heat climbs up your neck to bloom across the apples of your cheeks. Interestingly, James can barks and bites to his heartâs content with you but if anybody else brings it up, it seems that bashfulness isnât far behind.Â
Remus shakes his head and pinches the bridge of his nose, âdonât start now, Siriusââ Â
ââI-I donât mind, weâre all learning to love together and I know how important the tattoo parlour is to all of you so I really donât mindâŚâ you interrupt their bickering with flushed cheeks and shy eyes, unprepared for the reaction you would receive.Â
Remus snaps his full attention towards you in that moment. Your words were innocent and you look the picture of virtue, shy and sweet as you peer up at them with glittering doe eyes and a small smile. Remus doesnât think anybody else could be more beautiful than you right now. You appreciate his passions, you support it even, youâre understanding, youâre kind, youâre loving, youâre sweet and youâre so incredibly lovable, he wants to keep you away from the rest of the world forever, selfishly keeping you for himself. He wonders if you know how much of a tease youâve been to him this whole, working him up over and over and over again until he finally snaps. Â
Morals and patience be damned â he canât resist you anymore.Â
Remusâ face carries an unreadable expression as he gives a slow exhale and strides over to you. Sirius and James watch from where they stood, unmoving but with sly smiles on their lips â they know youâre the perfect image of Remusâ weaknesses bundled into one being and they both knew this was coming. It was about time⌠they applaud him though, he has more patience than them â but he had more desires too.Â
It all happens too fast for you to register but Remus was quickly looming over you, propped up by a hand on the bed as his other gripped at your chin. His eyes were piercing and held such promise within them, un-breaking and passionate, that you couldnât look away.Â
âDonât tempt me, beautiful girl,â his voice lowers several octaves and is underpinned by a hypnotising vibration that corrupts your limbs with minor tremors and a ferocious heat. Shamelessly, he captures your lips in a soft and tender kiss, an antithesis to the dark gleam in his feral eyes, âIâm not above making a mess in the bedroom,â you gasp at the implication and, for a moment, your cramps become pleasantly arousing. Again, Remus canât help but hold your lips hostage in an increasingly impassioned embrace. He greedily eats up your pretty moans, the muffled sounds going straight to his groin and making his smart trousers uncomfortably tight â a prickling warning to his precarious conduct, âso be a good girl and sit pretty until after you get over this, okay?â he utters roughly against your lips.Â
Heâll wait just a little bit longerâŚitâll be worth it.

@nbythegreat listen I get that you as a remus fan are going to defend him. And as a wolfstar fan distribute some of Sirius's good qualities to remus. But I classified remus in the better life individual because
1) he had loving and supporting parents, (in canon. I don't know or care about atyd, if that is canon to you, ....)
2) he wasn't groomed, he thought he owed to Dumbledore but he still went ahead and betrayed the headmaster's trust in him as a student for a atleast 3 continuous years and as a teacher for 1 year. That is not what a groomed person does. Look at harry, he didn't ever question Dumbledore until the man died. Yes harry may have broken school rules but it was Dumbledore who nudged him in that direction.
3) Remus had all the support from people who mattered. His parents, his school teachers and headmaster, his friend group, ootp members, harry and group, his wife and inlaws. He was never an outsider among people who mattered. He thought he was outsider because of his own insecurities.
4) Remus chose to fight. He had years to decide and volunteer. Harry entered ww and was told you are our saviour.
5) comparing sirius and Remus in terms of struggle is a discredit to both of them. Remus would never know what it feels to be not loved by the people who should be wired to love you. Remus would never know the struggle of a 16 year old run away kid. Sirius would never know how it feels to hate yourself because Sirius was never insecure about who he was as a person. Sirius never knew the lack of money situation that Remus faced after his parents and James died so no one remained to finance him.
6) And calling Remus as the rebellious one is really reaching for it. The only life he knew was that of a wizard. Had he been among werewolves all his life and decided -'oh well, I think this is absolutely wrong to feast on humans, I should immediately look for the great albus Dumbledore, I should fight against everything I knew all my life' that is rebelling. He was not rebelling when he did exactly what he has been taught to do all his life. In fact rebelling would have been to tell Dumbledore and wizards-' you are losers. You know what, fenerir is right. I must listen to him. '
Bottom line is, despite it may look like i am discrediting him, but i am not. I am telling you that despite life handing him a bad hand, he had all the resources and support to live a decent life.
He got to live a life he was mostly proud of because the people around him ALWAYS did right by him.
THAT is why he is different from petunia and severus and Sirius and Peter and harry group. Who growing up were shown lack of support from people around them. They were treated like objects at someone else's disposal Or like trophies or side kicks Or means as an end etc. Remus did not. People did him good. His life was meant to be good enough after efforts of so many people. It was bad because for 12 years he chose to not help himself in someone ways. (Dont tell me he couldn't. There is ALWAYS a choice. He chose idleness)))
Hi, I have a question. What do you think of the phrase "Snape could not emulate Lily's innate goodness, that was his tragedy?" I'm not a fan of Snape, but I don't agree. Innate goodness? I don't know, it sounds classist to me.
Hello Anon!!!
I don't know where you caught this sentence from. But it is absolutely rubbish.
I never saw goodness in lily. She was mean to her sister. she was mean to snape.
And I too am a snape neutralist. Same with adult petunia.
But their adult versions were as result of their younger versions's experience...
Like if you got a rough hand at life from childhood itself, chances are you will turn out to be a shitty adult. Petunia, the kid in her always upset at the unfairness of not getting magic when lily got to have it. Snape, I don't need to say, we all know. Abusive childhood+ bullying. (I think that Snape was strong enough dueller as a teen too. But 4 on 1 is not good and I say that as a marauders fan. Also swm, it breaks my heart for the poor kid,,, )
And perfect pampered kids like James and lily are obviously going to be decent adult.
Narrative made petunia and snape the way they were.
And I bet you anon if lily was in snape's shoes, she would have become far bigger villain than snape ever did. She gave as good as she got. The minute snape calls her a mudblood, next second she calls him Snivellus.
People who hate Snape and petunia don't understand how childhood trauma never goes away. It stays with you. It shapes you.
Harry is the only character who despite having the worst childhood went ahead and become a good guy. But I think that is a part of Dumbledore's mechanisation. He was like a dog. Harry. Whenever he finished the task, he was petted on the head, given a treat and told what a good boy he was. A non sexual grooming of sorts from the day he learned of magic.
Being good was expected of people like harry so he became that. Being rotten to core was expected out of Snape and petunia, so they become that.
Rebellious characters like Sirius do opposite of what is expected of them.
Always downgraded and degraded characters like Peter are going to want to get any chance to shine the most.
Evry character has a story. But in any case my sympathy will always with the underdogs like Snape, petunia, sirius, Peter. Not for James or lily or Remus who had people always telling them how great they are, how better they deserve. Because despite given a decent chance at life as compared to most others in their respective cases they still made wrong choices..... So more allowance should be given to underdogs rather than the people everyone was rooting for because they had the best bet. Making the losing horse win gives me relief, same for making the winning horse loose. It makes me know, that at least in fanfiction, life is unfair to the narrative's favourite child. That in fanfiction the underdogs will get option to better their life. To make the right choices under different circumstances...

Here We Are
Remus Lupin Ă fem!reader
WORD COUNT: 2171
WARNINGS: a lot of dialogue, mentions of food, please let me know if thereâs anything i missed!
REQUESTED: {x} by anons, fake dating AU, fluff
SUMMARY: The reader really needs to be seen in a good light to pass the class so when she finds out the teacher thinks really highly of Remus it may not be so bad to be associated with him.
A/N: Thank you for the request, both of you! i hope you like it :) iâm really sorry this took so long and i hope it doesnât suck too bad <33
CREDITS: gif credits to @patrick-stewart, prompt credits to @creativepromptsforwriting
âPlease,â you say as you walk behind Remus, trying to convince him to agree. Youâve found yourself in a not so pretty situation - youâre on the edge of not passing the class. McGonagall said that if you behave, sheâs gonna let you pass but thatâs you weâre talking about. Youâre not necessarily a bad girl but youâre not a saint either. The teachers hate you anyway so maybe if people would think that youâre Remusâ girlfriend, they would suspect youâve changed and maybe then she would let you pass.
âFor the last time, I wonât pretend to be your boyfriend!â he whisper-shouts, turning around so heâs now facing you. You stop too, almost running into his chest.
âRemus, please. Do you think I would be asking you for such a big favor if I had another choice? I need to pass this class, donât you understand?! My parents will kill me if I donât. And you know that Iâm not joking, youâve met them.â you finish, practically begging him by this point. Your parents are... special to say the least. Theyâre not bad parents, not at all. But sometimes, living up to their expectations is hard. They always expect you to be perfect: good grades, amazing friends, never getting into trouble; and itâs hard. Having a perfect sister doesnât help either. She passed all classes with exceptional grades, so not making this class is practically your funeral. Youâre already behind because of the bad grades but actually not passing? Your parents would absolutely lose their shit.
âOkay. Fine.â
âReally? You would do that for me?â
âYes, Y/N, I said Iâll do it,â he states, and you throw your hands around his neck, pulling him in for a hug, the feeling of excitement and gratefulness taking over you.
âThank you, thank you so much!â you exclaim as you pull away and start jumping, a small smile appearing on Remusâ face. This is going to be amazing; not just because you save yourself from your dreadful parents, but itâs also an opportunity to get to know him better.
~
Youâre currently standing in front of McGonagallâs class, waiting for your fake boyfriend to show up. You let out a sigh of relief as your eyes lay upon his walking form, his friends right beside him.
âFinally!â you shout as he stops in front of you, his face serious. You take his hand and interview your fingers, his friends putting on surprised faces. âI see you havenât told them yet?â
âNope,â he laughs, with you joining him. âGuys, this is my girlfriend Y/N. Y/N this is Peter, James, and Sirius.â
âYou and him? Heâs your boyfriend?â
âWell, a fake one but yeah, James, he is my boyfriend.â
âOkay, Iâm even more confused now,â says Sirius as he tries to process this new information.
âI need to pass this class and Remus is doing me a favor so since McGonagall thinks very highly of him, it may not be so bad to be associated with him.â
âMhm,â Peter hesitates, looking from one to another in a pretty funny manner.
âWell, um, if you weirdos donât mind, we really have to go in,â you utter, sweetly smiling at them before pulling Remus behind you, sitting down beside him.
The lesson is going well so far, you acting like a responsible individual while trying to appear as Remusâ girlfriend for the teacher to notice. To your luck, she did and Remus played along just fine. He played amazingly actually - you almost forgot heâs not your real boyfriend, becoming so caught up in the act, and letâs just say his performance didnât help either.
âMiss Y/N, can you stay a moment please?â McGonagall asks as the class ends, earning a small smile from you.
âOf course professor,â you reply, muttering a quick âbyeâ to Remus, not letting him leave without a kiss on the cheek.
âI can see your behavior has drastically changed. I like that, keep going like this and youâll pass with ease,â she explains, earning a soft nod from you.
âThank you,â you say as you stand up and leave, a winning smirk playing on your lips. The plan is officially a success.
~
Itâs a peaceful afternoon, the sun shining through your window, Hogwarts and its surroundings beautiful as ever in this late springtime. Youâre in your room, reading a book as you hear a knock on your door. Rolling up from your bed you mark the page where you stayed, getting up to open the door to an unknown visitor. A figure of a tall, sandy-haired boy appears before you, recognizing him in a second.
âHey, Remy,â you softly say as you open the door wider, inviting him in without words. He enters without hesitation, sitting in a chair he always sits in when heâs in your room. âI love the book,â you mutter excitedly, showing the almost read piece. âItâs amazing, thank you for letting me borrow it.â
âOf course. Iâm really glad you like it,â he murmurs, watching as you sit beside him. The fake dating thing has been going on for a couple of weeks now and whilst itâs hard to believe it, a beautiful friendship developed with the faking. To be honest, it surprised you too but truth be told, this is one of the best friendships you have ever had.
âSo, how are you? Got any of your great pranks in the plan for today?â You ask jokingly, earning a quiet chuckle from Remus.
âNo, not really. I mean, not that Iâm aware of,â he says as he puts his arms in the air defensively, pulling the same reaction out of you.
âFair enough,â you reply, both of you falling into a comfortable silence. The peace is soon disturbed though, with a big bang coming from the common room downstairs. You jump on your feet, already half the way down the stairs when Remus catches up with you, only hoping nothing bad happened. Of course, it hasnât; it was just another one of Siriusâ and Jamesâ stupid ideas.
âYou idiots!â you shout, hitting James on the back of his head.
âOi, what was that for?!â he questions, dramatically putting his hand on where you hit him.
âFor almost giving me a heart attack, you dumbass!â you whisper-yell, threateningly putting your arm up as if youâre going to hit him again.
âWell weâre sorry for disturbing your peace, princess,â Sirius says sarcastically, earning a murderous glare from you.
âOkay, letâs just all calm down,â Remus cuts in, pulling you away from the sometimes annoying boy. âWhat were you two doing anyway?â he finally asks, putting himself between you and the two friends.
âWe were trying to pull a prank when a first-year came in and destroyed everything,â one of them explains, earning an eye roll from you. Of course, they were, what were you even thinking? Every time something explodes itâs always the two of them, sometimes even Remus joins. To be honest, you secretly love their pranks; itâs like their little thing but it can be really annoying sometimes.
âit was an amazing one too,â the other adds, a chuckle escaping your throat.
âIâm sure it was,â you calmly smile, the annoyance leaving your body just as fast as it came.
âThank you! At least someone appreciates my effort,â implies James, looking at Remus as though he just betrayed him in the worst way possible.
âOh, câmon, it was one time!â Remus replies, putting his hands up defensively. âYouâre unbelievable, you know that right?â
âI-â
âThat was a rhetorical question, you donât have to answer it,â he quickly adds, knowing damn well James would answer with something thatâs beyond stupid. That shuts Jamesâ mouth which slowly starts to pout like a toddler that didnât get the candy he wanted.
Just then McGonagall walks in, scaring the shit out of all of you. Itâs weird for a teacher to appear in common rooms of the houses, even though they are the headteachers of the house.
âWhat are you doing here, professor?â you politely ask, moving a little closer to Remus, a reflex you gained in the past few weeks without even realizing it. He protectively puts his arm around your waist, something he started doing after all this time of pretending.
âI heard something explode, is everything okay?â she concernedly asks, figuring out what happened in a matter of seconds once she scans the room and sees whoâs the only one there. âYou two, again, really?â she disappointingly questions, obviously done with these two.
âI- Well how do you know it was just us, they are here too,â Sirius says as he points at you two, an unbelievable expression appearing on your faces. Heâs really going to snitch even though you havenât done anything? Oh, that bastard-
âWe havenât done anything maâam,â Remus quickly jumps in, his defensive side coming out, knowing what this could mean for your final grade.
âOh, I know Mr. Lupin, donât worry,â she sweetly replies, a sigh of relief escaping your lips. âYou two can go up, Iâll deal with these two,â she adds, rushing you up to his room.
You obey without hesitation, not wanting to get into any trouble for something you didnât do. Truth be told, if Remus wasnât there, she would probably accuse you too - youâre glad he defended both of you, not just himself. He couldâve just cared about his ass but he didnât, he vouched for you too.
âThank you,â you murmur after youâre safe inside his dorm, sitting down on the bed.
âFor what?â
âFor defending me. You know, not just yourself,â you thank, a sweet smile painted on your face.
âYeah, of course. I couldnât just leave you there, especially not with so much at stake,â he affirms, returning you the same expression.
It was his smile that got butterflies to erupt in your stomach. He was a friend, at first, but in the last week and a half or so youâve caught yourself staring at the boy more times than before. You noticed his smile and the way he furrows his eyebrows when heâs focused. How dark chocolate is his favourite, how he likes the bitter-sweet taste of it.
Or how he trusts you now, enough that he told you his secret. How his friends were surprised, because he needed years to tell them, and even then, they had to figure it out themselves. They teased him for it, but theyâve never seen him happier than when he was with you. The way he talked about you, it was like he fell in love without even realizing it. He was blind but everyone else could see it - everyone else but you and him.
And now here he is, standing in front of you with that pretty little smile of his, those chocolate brown eyes staring right at you. Thereâs a newfound beauty in him that you havenât noticed before, even though it was right before your eyes this whole time. You got lost in his orbs and he in yours; itâs like this invisible force is pulling you together, and before you could react youâre in front of him, so close that you can feel his breath on your lips. You look up from them to his eyes, searching for any kind of hesitation. He nods as if trying to say that itâs okay and that he wants it too. Thus, without missing a beat, you attach your lips to his.
It was nothing like you imagined. Itâs almost like time stopped. You could be kissing him for a couple of seconds or for several hours as long as you know. But after some time, the urge to breathe became too strong, making you pull away even though you didnât want to.
Too shy to look at him, you just stay there for a second, eyes closed, leaning against his forehead. He does the same, his thumb stroking your cheek. You havenât even noticed when he put it there but it doesnât bother you, not even slightly. You can feel the heat traveling up your neck and reaching your cheeks but you donât care.
âIâve wanted to do that for a long time.â heâs the first one to speak, breaking the comfortable silence you were in.
âReally?â you ask, surprised.
âYes. Thatâs one of the main reasons why I didnât want to pretend to be your boyfriend. I knew that I couldnât just pretend and that after some time, I'd catch feelings. And I did. But your grades were going up and I didnât have the heart to break it off so I just kept going, I kept pretending,â he explains, a stunned expression appearing on your face.
âI had no idea,â you murmur, your voice higher than usual.
âYeah, and I had no idea you liked me too but here we are,â he grins, a laugh escaping your throat.
âHere we are,â you whisper as you cup his cheek too, pressing another soft kiss to his lips.

hey, sweetie! I came across your account and found your stories are utterly amazing! I can't get enough re-reading all over again; it's very very great! I was hoping if I could make a req? If only you don't mind!
Can you do the marauders (yes, prongs moony and padfoot) smut where they accidentally use degrading kink but the reader is hurt and she ended up crying because it makes her very insecure because she's nothing but just a fuck toy? I don't hate the idea of such kink but I'm not fond of being degraded even though it doesn't mean any harm. maybe they will praise her and cuddle until she's completely calm down. i really like fluff ending⤠thanks!

a/n: oh my god. when i got this request i literally had to pause and reread it so many times because it sent me spiraling. too good. thank you for this because i know exactly what iâll be daydreaming about for the next week! iâm the same way about degradation (i donât want it unless iâm really in the mood) so i can totally relate. i just hope i did it justice. enjoy!Â
âCâmon, puppy, sit right here like a good girl,â Sirius instructed, giving a pointed nod to his erect cock. He was lounging back on his bed, one hand propped behind his head, his raven hair wrapped up in a messy bun. He looked like a Greek God and he didnât even have to try.Â
You made your way up the bed, straddling his waist and hovering your core above him. You were already dripping wet with the anticipation of what these boys were about to do to you. You werenât sure how it escalated to this point, but here you were.Â
You were hovered above Siriusâ cock, Remus making his way up the bed behind you, and James was off to the side, stroking his cock and content with waiting until you were ready to take it. The night you four had planned was triple penetration to the ultimate proportions.Â
You sunk down onto Siriusâ cock, feeling him stretch you and fill you so beautifully as he always did. All of their cocks were amazing, but Siriusâ was the perfect amount of thickness that you needed.Â
âFuck, you never stop being tight no matter how much we stretch you. Just the perfect little hole for us,â Sirius said roughly, his large hands coming to grip your hips and grind you down onto him, getting you settled on his cock.Â
Remus was the next one with his hands on you, pushing you forward onto Siriusâ chest until you were completely exposed to him. He could see the spot where Sirius was entering your body, stretching you out completely, and he could see exactly where his own cock would be going - right into your tightest hole, already being stretched with a plug.Â
He worked it out gently, all three of them listening to you whimper into Siriusâ neck as he pushed and pulled, teasing you, until he finally removed it.Â
âThatâs a good girl. Stay just like that and quiet to be our little toy,â James commented, reaching over to brush some hair out of your face. You keened at the attention, but his choice of words made you flush red with embarrassment. You knew logically you were more than just a hole or a toy for them, but hearing it made you question what their intentions were nonetheless.Â
Next thing you knew, you could feel Remusâ cock at your entrance, slowly pushing in. It wasnât as bad as you had expected, the boys had prepped you well, but the additional stretch and sting made you wince lightly despite your moan.Â
Remus roughly grabbed your arms and pulled you back so your back hit his chest harshly as he bottomed out inside of you. You were now successfully taking both of their cocks which made your head spin with arousal, but his words sent you spiralling.Â
âOh donât act like youâre in pain. That wonât work with us. We know you're just a filthy slut so youâll take it like one,â Remus said, beginning to slowly roll his hips against your ass, forcing you to grind on Siriusâ cock in return.Â
Regardless of how his words made you feel, you couldnât stop the moan from falling out of your mouth, effectively proving him right. When you looked down at Sirius, you knew he could see the tears beginning to form in your eyes, but he disregarded it to begin thrusting up into you, your head falling back onto Remusâ shoulders.Â
âFuck she feels so good,â Sirius moaned. âProngs, sheâs ready for you,â he said, looking over to his messy haired friend.Â
Once that was said, Remus released your arms and you had to flail to stay upright, clutching Siriusâs shoulder. You werenât there for long before James grabbed a chuck of your hair from the root and pulled you down sideways, your mouth lining up with his cock.Â
âOpen,â was all he said, treating you indifferently. Something you were not used to and not a fan of. You did what he asked regardless though, hoping if you proved that you were good their attitudes would change.Â
Once your mouth engulfed James, all three of them let out a moan in sync, getting off on the fact that all of them were inside of you at the same time.Â
âLook at her,â Remus rumbled out, âjust a filthy fucking whore taking all of us.âÂ
You whined around Jamesâ cock in protest, but the vibration only made him moan and pull your head in further, your nose now flush up against his skin. A tear slipped down your face, both because of the urge to gag around Jamesâ cock and because of their unexpected treatment of you. Sure they had degraded you before, but never this much, never all of them at once, and always mixed with praise. This was different and you didnât like it.Â
âLook at her,â James started with a breathless laugh, continuing to fuck your throat raw, âsheâs even crying for it like the pathetic slut she is.âÂ
Thatâs what did it. Thatâs what had you pulling off of James with a sob, struggling for breath with tears pouring down your face. âStop, please stop,â you begged quietly, praying that one of them believed you.Â
Thinking back, you were all stupid to never have a safeword for these situations but nothing like this had ever come up before. They were always so good with reading you, knowing exactly what you needed. You werenât sure what went wrong this time.Â
Thankfully, James didnât go to reach for you again and Sirius and Remus immediately stopped giving you the delicious friction they had been providing inside of you to turn towards your face.Â
You collapsed against Siriusâ chest in a fit of sobs and he was quick to wrap his arms around you and pull you close. You could practically feel the panicked looks being passed between them, but they were all quick to jump into action. Remus was running his hand along your back, but he never pulled out, they knew how much you hated them pulling out before you were ready. You felt the bed dip and James sat down at Siriusâ side, a hand coming up to brush through your tangled hair.Â
âWhat happened, love? Whatâs wrong?â Sirius asked softly, his lips brushing against your neck.Â
âToo mean,â you whimpered out, not looking up at any of them.Â
âWe were being too mean to our sweet girl? You want us to be nice while youâre our good girl?â Remus asking, lips brushing your shoulder blade before he pressed a gentle kiss on your skin.Â
âPlease,â you said with a final shaky breath, looking up at the boys while your tears dried.Â
âYou sure you want to keep going?â James asked gently, his thumb coming up to brush the tears off of your face.Â
âPlease. Please, it felt so good,â you begging shamelessly, grinding down on Sirius and Remusâ cock for good measure, just to prove how much you wanted to keep going.Â
âFuck, okay okay,â Remus said, choking on a laugh when he felt how tight you were against him all over again.Â
âRide us just like that pretty girl. Youâve been so good for us all night. Letting us fuck you and strecth you like this. So good,â Sirius mused, really laying it on thick in his attempt to rectify his mistakes as he grabbed your hips harshly, overwhelmed with how tight you were.Â
âYou wanna use your mouth again, love? Or just your hand?â James asked, gently turning your face to his using a knuckle.Â
You didnât even reply, just bent over sideways once more and opened your mouth, tongue out.Â
âYouâre fucking perfect,â James said with a chuckle, gently working your mouth back onto his cock until he was lodged down your throat.Â
They never stopped the rough treatment, but the words they were saying were affecting you so much differently now. Rather than making you question yourself and your place with them, they were making you feel so good and loved and safe.Â
The way they were ravishing your body made you feel heavenly. The way Remus and and Siriusâ cocks were dragging in and out of you made your head spin and your core tighten, dangling on the edge just waiting to be tossed over. Jamesâ cock down your throat gave you a fraction of power over at least one of them, knowing all of his pleasure was coming from your body. Truly, all of their pleasure was, but you were working hard for James.Â
âFuck you feel like a vice,â Remus groaned, his fingers digging into your hips as he rolled his hips against you in a steady pace. You could feel the way him and Siriusâ cocks were dragging past each other through the thin walls inside your body, making you tremble with the thought of being so full of them. They were practically splitting you open, but oh what a way to go. âLet go for us, Y/N. Fuck, I can feel how close you are.âÂ
It didnât take long after that. One, two, three more pumps from each of them and you were spiralling over the edge and into your release. You pulled away from James to let out your loud cry of relief and he readily took over to work his own cock, aiming it directly at your open mouth. In the rush of your release, you could feel yourself being filled with cum in all your holes. Warm rope after rope of cum gushed into your core and your mouth, completely filling you up from all angles.Â
Being that full of their cum made you tremble, but you finally worked your way down from the clouds and collapsed against Siriusâ chest once more.Â
It took all of you a minute to even feel coherent, but finally Remus was pulling out of you slowly. You could feel a rush of cum leave your body and trail down your thighs and onto the bed. You werenât even sure whose bed you were on anymore. You whimpered at the feeling, both the unsatisfactory feeling of misplaced cum and the feeling of being empty after so long.Â
Sirius went to pull out next, but you shook your head aggressively, needing to feel close to one of them after all of that. âPlease donât,â you begged softly, unable to give him a reason at the moment. You were a mixture of overwhelmed and still in a comedown, you just needed to be close.Â
âAlright, donât worry. You can stay here as long as youâd like puppy,â Sirius told you, shifting so the both of you were laying on your sides, getting you comfortable on the bed beside him. James crawled into the bed behind you, and Remus moved to relax against the headboard, pulling your feet into his lap to lightly massage them, relaxing you further.Â
âYou did so good for us tonight, love,â James said, moving his body so his chest was against you back, boxing you in. âWe didnât mean to upset you at all. Youâre always good for us. You know that, right?âÂ
âI know. It was just too much in the moment,â you tried your best to explain.Â
âWeâll talk about it later, yeah? We should have a word for if that happens again,â Remus suggested, quick to bring up what you had already been thinking about. You gave a small nod into Siriusâ neck, which he relayed to the boys.Â
âGet some rest, pup. Weâll be right here when you wake up,â Sirius told you, placing a kiss on your forehead before moving to pull a blanket over the both of you, never pulling out once just as you wanted.Â
Because you always got what you wanted from your boys.Â

I think fans often get frustrated by the lack of pre-planning in stories written narrative-first, but while itâs not as tight as like... One Piece (nothing is⌠sighâŚ) I donât think plot holes are super prevalentâŚ? There might be a minor issue here or there (why Harry had to compete in the tournament instead of forfeiting each game I may never understand) but overall thereâs little that breaks my suspension of disbelief in HP. I agree that the whole story wasn't intricately planned - most stories aren't - but it isn't haphazardly strung together, either. I think many of the 'plot holes' listed are decently explained in the text (and I say that with the sincerest hope that it helps you fill blanks in your project) :
+ I donât understand the 'child army' idea for Dumbledore and havenât seen a convincing case for it. It goes against everything heâs shown to think or do? The only child soldier heâs ever created is Harry, which is central to Albus' character arc: it breaks him apart; forces him to change.
+ Sirius wasnât denied a trial because 'there was no other way to imprison him'. The lack of a trial establishes core themes of Siriusâ character and reflects themes of the Wizarding World that are established in the first book:
The Wizarding World appears whimsical and wonderful at a glance - better than the dreary Muggle world - but it is constantly revealed as more unfair, judgemental, full of extremes and contradictions.
The loudest voice dominates. Confidence is valued. The quiet cling to the loud: individuals are encouraged to be islands with little support, so they follow the loud assuming they are capable.
'Logic' is rare in Wizarding society - emotions and desires drive people over seeking truth and justice, often leading to selfishness.
A trial could have been rigged, inconclusive, or a long struggle between people arguing for and against Sirius⌠But that would mean someone was fighting for or against him. Who Who cared that much about Sirius Black The POINT of there being no trial is that NOBODY cared enough about him to fight either way - he quietly became a political tool for the loudest voice in the room. Sirius pushed everyone away and it's come back to bite his ass. He was a knight to his chosen Lord, a loyal hound - a righteous soldier defined by his deeds, not his background. But when those deeds pointed to him being a betraying murderer When you take away all his choices⌠he is still a 'Black'.
Not giving Sirius a trial and letting him go quietly highlights the futility of his situation. All his efforts to prove himself righteous - only for his black-and-white thinking to leave him without ally. He based his life on James. With him gone the world swept him away⌠because he had nothing else to his name other than 'Black', the very thing he spent his life running from.
It's not a hole left unfilled lore-wise, either. There are reasons why certain methods aren't used in court: -- Veritaserum only makes the person tell the truth as they see it. If Sirius had been made to believe Peter was guilty - it doesn't mean it was fact. It's effects can also be fought if the Wizard knows it's gonna be used. -- Legilimency is difficult, and skilled wizards can block it or alter their memories. Thatâs how Severus survived every day of his life. Sirius Black was known to be an incredibly skilled Wizard. -- They couldnât even confirm who was or wasnât under the Imperius Curse. If Sirius had a trial and claimed he was under it⌠great. Yet another one to process and never reach a consensus on.
OR - Barty Sr. could push to expedite the process, imprison all the Death Eaters and wrap up the war neatly - possibly securing the position of Minister of Magic for himself. Nice and tidy plan B^) "âŚOH SHIT MY SON IS ONE?!?" <- He didn't expect that. That came a few days later. Oopsy.
+ Was the diary a retcon? More importantly: does it matter...? Retcons arenât inherently bad - they are a tool to add depth. I'm not sure it is a retcon, considering Myrtles death lined up with its creation - but either way it works quite well. Is that egregiousâŚ?
+ I'm not sure why you think Snape started hating James because of the Prank. -- They had a bad interaction on the train in first year. -- The Marauders had been bullying Snape all through school with Lily defending him and thinking poorly of the Marauders. -- James hung Snape upside down, revealed his underwear to onlookers and filled his mouth with soap... because they were bored in fifth year. -- The Prank happened when they were 16. Snape was already focused on finding out what they did every month because he hated them and wanted to show Lily they 'weren't as good as everyone says they are'. Sirius turned 16 in November of his fifth year, Severus in January⌠so it was either second semester fifth year or early in sixth. I'd say late fifth, after the soap incident, as he had called her a Mudblood and was probably trying to win her back... and during the OWL's that day Harry noticed Remus looked pre-Full Moon. Writing that Remus looked pre-Full Moon, when the other big incident we hear of is on the Full Moon, and Sirius said he wished it was the Full Moon because he was bored, seems intentional.
+ Dumbledore perceives Sirius⌠quite well? 'it also changes how Dumbledore perceives Sirius, doing something stupid at 13 is much different than at 17.' what does this mean...? He trusted him in the Order after the Prank, was shocked by his betrayal... what is he supposed to say when called as a witness, as Sirius' 'boss', other than 'There were plans to make him Secret Keeper...?' They cut him out. 'I don't think he would betray James' well James is betrayed and there are 13 dead with 50 unbiased witnesses. In PoA, Albus was quick to help Sirius escape and worked hard to keep him safe while on the run even though he had no proof Peter Pettigrew was alive other than the words of a couple of kids. When Sirius died he had mainly nice things to say about him, too.
+ The timing of baby Harry is a bit confusing, ill give you that - but we do know the Potters were in hiding for a whole year. So it was ultimately up to Peter finally spilling the beans. Whether the Longbottoms were under protection is irrelevant - they were tortured after the war ended, when everyone thought they were safe. While itâs satisfying to know for sure, I agree⌠it's not wrong to leave out details that donât directly serve the story.
The Goblet of Fire
I started reading Harry Potter with the very simple goal to prove that the reason it has so many plot holes is because JKR planned out the Marauder's era A: too late and B: not nearly enough.
This book has a lot and most of it's to do with more general characters which makes sense. Because of this I'm probably going to separate the info into more characters than just the Marauders and Lily.
But let's get into it. I'm getting my page numbers from the Raincoast Books publisher with the cover made by Micheal Wildsmith.
Lily Evans:
She refused to stop shielding Harry when Voldemort told her to move (ch. 14 pg. 238).
A trace of her sacrifice stayed on Harry (ch. 33 pg. 707).
James Potter
James died first while trying to hold Voldemort off and telling Lily to take harry and go (ch. 14 pg. 238).
Snape loathed James while they were in school (ch. 26 pg. 523).
He died straight backed and proud (Voldemort ch. 34 pg. 715).
Sirius Black:
He was sent to Azkaban without a trial because of Crouch (ch. 27 pg. 572).
Peter Pettigrew:
He gave up James and Lily's location to Voldemort (ch. 14 pg. 238).
Bertha Jorkins:
Bertha Jorkins was very nosey and didn't have any brains. She was a few years older than Sirius and James (ch. 19 pg. 366).
Bertha Jorkins had an excellent memory for gossip and never knew when to keep her mouth shut, it got her in a lot of trouble (ch. 27 pg. 580).
Bertha followed someone behind the greenhouses or at least said she saw someone (referred to as he) kissing Florence behind the green house and that he hexed her (ch. 30 pg. 650).
Voldemort / Tom Marvolo Riddle:
He killed his foolish muggle father (ch. 33 pg. 700).
His mother was a witch who lived in the village, she fell in love with his father but he left her when he found out she was a witch (ch.n33 pg. 700).
His mother died in childbirth, leaving him in a muggle orphanage (ch.33 pg. 700).
Voldemort vowed that he would take revenge on the fool who gave him his name (ch. 33 pg. 700).
He says that it appeared that one or more of his experiments for immortality worked because he didn't die (ch. 33 pg. 708).
Death Eaters:
Barty Jr. was caught with a group of death eaters who'd talked their way out of Azkaban, apparently they were trying to find Voldemort and return him to power (according to Sirius ch. 27 pg. 573).
Barty Jr. could have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time (according to Sirius ch. 27 pg. 574).
Barty Jr. was no older than 19 and a few cells away from Sirius, he died a year later, no one came to collect the body and it was buried by dementors (ch. 27 pg. 575).
Snape was famous for his fascination with the dark arts at school, he knew more curses when he arrived at the school than half of the seventh years. He was part of a group of Slytherins who nearly all turned out to be death eaters (according to Sirius ch. 27 pg. 577).
Part of Snape's group were Wilkes and Rosier who were both killed by Aurors before Voldemort fell (ch. 17 pg. 577).
The Lestranges are a married couple who are in Azkaban (ch. 27 pg. 578).
Avery said he was imperiused and isn't in Azkaban (ch. 27 pg. 577).
Snape was never accused of being a Death Eater, but he's clever enough to get out of it and a lot of them were never caught (ch. 27 pg. 577).
Crouch's Son (Barty Jr.) got twelve owls (Debatable, crouch said this after escaping Voldemort, so his mind isn't really intact ch. 28 pg. 604)
Igor Karkaroff was in Azkaban, and tried to sell out other Death Eater's to get out (ch. 30 pg. 637).
Moody spent 6 months tracking Karkaroff down (ch. 30 pg. 638)
Voldemort had the Death Eaters organized so that no one never knew who all of his supports were except for him (ch. 30 pg. 639).
Karkaroff gave the names of important supporters, people he saw doing Voldemort's bidding with his own eyes (ch. 30 pg. 639).
Antonin Dolohov tortured countless muggles and non-supporters of the dark lord, he was caught shortly after Karkaroff (ch. 30 pg. 639).
Evan Rosier was killed in a struggle with aurors, he took a large chunk out of Mad-Eye's nose in the process (ch. 30 pg. 640).
Travers helped murder the McKinnons (ch. 30 pg. 640).
Mulciber specialized in the imperius curse and forced countless people to do horrible things (ch. 30 pg. 640).
Rookwood was a spy and passed information to Voldemort from inside the ministry (ch. 30 pg. 640).
Augustus Rookwood had a network of spies inside and outside the Ministry to collect information. But the Ministry had already caught Mulciber and Travers (ch. 30 pg. 641).
Snape was a death eater but he was cleared by the council after being vouched for by Dumbledore. He rejoined the ministry's side before Voldemort fell at great personal risk (ch. 30 pg. 641).
Barty Jr. was put on trial with three other Death Eaters who were caught with him, he was shaking and milk white when he was brought in (ch. 30 pg. 645).
Barty begged his father not to send him back to the dementors, and when that didn't work begged his mother claiming his innocence (ch. 30 pg. 647).
The heavy lidded woman (Bellatrix, probably?) declared that Voldemort would be back, and that he would let them out of Azkaban (ch. 30 pg. 647).
In response to 15 in general information Harry then asks if Barty Jr. might have been innocent (ch. 30 pg. 655).
Barty Jr.'s mother saved him from Azkaban, she came and took his place using polyjuice potion and then kept taking it until she died there (ch. 35 pg. 740-741).
The house elf nursed Barty Jr. Back to health and once he regained it his father put him under a number of spells including the imperius curse, once he broke that control all Barty Jr. could think of was returning to service of his lord (ch. 35 pg. 741).
Barty Jr. loved quidditch (ch. 35 pg. 742).
General information:
Aberforth was prosecuted for practicing inappropriate charms on a goat and went about his business as per usual (according to Dumbledore ch. 24 pg. 495).
When Voldemort was first in power it was a very stressful time. people didn't know who was or wasn't working for him. You knew that he could make people do horrible things against their will. People were scared for themselves and their family. Every week there were more reported deaths, disappearances, and torturing. The ministry was a mess and didn't know what to do, they're trying to keep everything hidden from muggles. Muggles were dying too (ch. 27 pg. 572-573).
Crouch rose quickly in the ministry, he started ordering harsher measures against Voldemort's supporters. Giving Aurors permission/power to kill rather than capture. Sent multiple people to Azkaban without a trial. authorized the use of Unforgivable curses against suspects (ch. 27 pg. 573).
Crouch became as ruthless and cruel as anyone on the Dark side (according to Sirius ch. 27 pg. 573).
Crouch had plenty of supporters, they wanted to make him the minister of Magic, but once his son was found to be a death eater he lost most of his support (ch. 27 pg. 573).
Sirius says that Crouch should have spent more time out of the office and got to know his son (ch. 27 pg. 574).
Crouch cared about his son just enough to give him a trial, and even then it was a public display of how much Crouch hated him (according to Sirius ch. 27 pg. 574).
Being high ranking in the Ministry allowed Crouch and his wife a deathbed visit, his wife died shortly after their son (according to Sirius ch. 27 pg. 575).
Crouch attended a concert with Mr. and Mrs. Fudge with his wife and son, he was very proud of Barty for getting 12 O.W.L.S. (debatable we only find this out after Crouch escapes Voldemort ch. 28 pg. 604).
Ludo Bagman passed information to one of Voldemort's supporters, but he didn't know what he was doing. Rookwood was one of his father's friends and had promised to help get him a job at the Ministry (ch. 30 pg. 643-644).
Crouch looked upon his son with pure hatred (ch. 30 pg. 645).
Barty jr. and the three other Death Eaters captured Auror Frank Longbottom and subjected him to the cruciatus curse because they thought he had information on where Voldemort was. They then tortured his wife Alice the same way when he wouldn't give up the information (ch. 30 pg. 646).
Crouch disowned his son when he was sent to Azkaban, he didn't notice his wife faint when he made the declaration (ch. 30 pg. 647).
The years of Voldemort's rise to power were marked with disappearances (ch. 30 pg. 653).
The Longbottoms were very popular and the attack on them happened after Voldemort's disappearance which caused a wave of fury and demands for the perpetrators to be caught (ch. 30 pg. 655).
Mrs. Weasly once got told off by the Fat Lady for coming back to the common room at 4 in the morning, she was out for a stroll with her now husband. He however got caught by Apollyon Pringle the then caretaker. Mr. Weasly still has the marks (ch. 35 pg. 669).
Crouch loved his wife like he had never loved his son (according to Barty Jr. though he was under Veritaserum so it's likely he truly believed this ch. 35 pg. 740).
The old crowd included Remus Lupin, Mndungus Fletcher, and Arabella Fig (ch. 36 pg. 773).
Questions:
Did Regulus exist when this book was being written? I think not because I feel like Sirius would have mentioned him when he was talking about Snape's friends.
Were other innocent people sent to Azkaban when Crouch wasn't giving out trials?
Where are the theoretical repercussions from sending more innocent people to prison?
Edited on November 28, 2024, to add chapter numbers.

Second son
Summary: âYou ran away from home?â
âWhen I was about sixteen,â said Sirius. âIâd had enough.â
âWhere did you go?â said Harry, staring at him.
âYour dadâs place,â said Sirius. âYour grandparents were really good about it; they sort of adopted me as a second son.â

December 23, 1976 - 5:25PM
Euphemia did her best not to cry when Minerva's letter arrived at her house.
ââMia,
I know what I'm going to ask of you is totally irrational and you have every right to ignore my request and yell at me, but I don't see any other way out.
I've been noticing for a few weeks that Sirius has been acting weird and seems to be distant from everyone. A few days ago I noticed a bruise on the corner of his mouth, but I can't tell if it was a fight with his brother or someone else, you know how boys are at that age.
Anyway, I've noticed that it's been a few months since his detention has been signed by his parents anymore, and I've tried contacting them but Dumbledore keeps saying there's nothing to worry about - you know him, he's terrible at times.
I think there's something wrong with him, and I know Sirius comes to your house during the holidays because I always hear James talking about it, so I came through this letter asking that if you notice anything strange, please tell me. Or talk to Sirius to see if you can find anything.
I'm very worried.
Love, and I'm sorry to bother you with this,
Minerva.''
It hurt her heart more than she thought it would, noticing that the signs Minnie had said were all right there under her nose. James hadn't said anything about Sirius coming for Christmas, and he'd been there for two years now, even though she felt a little bad that he wasn't with his parents on that date. And James looked weird too; he was angrier than usual, and reluctant to talk to them and getting locked in his room.
When they were at the station, Mia noticed that Sirius had got off the train alone and looked guilty, not even looking in their direction as he walked over to where his parents were - who didn't look at all happy with his presence there.
He had already told Monty a few times that his parents didn't like him going to Gryffindor, and James had once told her that Sirius didn't get along with Regulus. But Euphemia always thought it was silly things that teenagers took too seriously, but now, she felt she should have given more importance to the signs.
âSirius isn't coming?â she asked when she saw James coming down the stairs, an unusually sulky look.
"I don't know," was all he said, walking into the kitchen and leaving her alone in the living room. Her heart clenched, a bad feeling burning in her chest.
"Didn't he tell you anything?" James always liked to talk about everything with Euphemia, Monty said he was a big mama's boy, but she didn't mind at all. As long as he was going to look for her to get her opinion, Euphemia would be only too happy to help him.
"He just said he didn't know if he was coming." James walked out of the kitchen, a glass of milk and a cookie jar under his arm, but when he threatened to go back up to the bedroom, she stopped him.
"Come here." James didn't like being confronted, he'd inherited it from her, and he used to frown when someone demanded answers from him. But Euphemia had no choice but to do that, so he was going to need to spit it out. ââIs something going on? Did you guys fight?â she asked, folding the letter and placing it on the coffee table with Minnie's name down, not wanting James to know she already knew. This made it difficult for him to speak.
"No." He sat up, sullen as he always was when she did that. James didn't meet her eyes however, and that was a red light for her. He was one of those people who didn't mind looking anyone in the eye unless he was lying.
ââYou know you can talk to me, don't you? I care about you two.â
"We don'tâŚ" He sighed, closing his eyes and leaning back against the sofa cushions, the glass of milk and cookies forgotten on the coffee table. ''He was being an idiot the last few days, I don't know what got into him, but I was ignoring it because I don't know, he gets like that sometimes when he and Regulus fight, but then the christmas thing came up and I said if he continued in that mood he wouldn't be welcome here,'' James denied, pulling his hair angrily. ''I thought he'd know I was joking, of course he's welcome here, but then he got mad and told me he wasn't coming to bother me this year, and I yelled that it would be great so⌠I got mad, I wasn't thinking⌠so he got out of our wagon and went to Merlin knows where. I only saw him when we got off the train, and he was already going with his parents.'â
ââOh, sonâŚââ
''I know I shouldn't have said that, but he was being an idiot, and now... I hope he doesn't hate me.'' Euphemia wanted to go to that hideous Black house to drag Sirius under her wing, force him and James to talk and make up, and bring him in with them. But Monty had already told her that this was illegal.
"He doesn't hate you, son." She opened her arms for James to hug her, stroking his hair and thinking about what she could do with the situation. "Did you say he and Regulus had a fight?"
"They...um," Of course James was too faithful to tell her about that. Too noble to betray his best friend. ââKind of a fight.ââ
âDoes Sirius often fight with him a lot?â She remembered when they had once met Walburga and Orion at an event, and only Regulus was with them.
"Where's Sirius?" she had asked, because it didn't make sense to take just one child. And Sirius was what, twelve or thirteen at the time?
"He preferred to stay with my sister," Walburga said, smiling bitterly at Euphemia as if silently telling her not to meddle where she wasn't called.
She swallowed, thinking maybe she was seeing trouble where it didn't exist. Maybe he really wanted to stay with his aunt, she couldn't prove otherwise.
ââSend him a letter later inviting him to our Christmas, okay? If you want,â she said, looking once more at Minnie's letter on the table.
"Fine."
December 24, 1976 - 10:54PM
It was snowing like never before outside, probably the coldest night this year so far, and the house was silent when she woke up to noises outside.
Monty jumped out of bed, wand in hand, just as she had, heart pounding in her chest and a motherly fear of protecting James at all costs from whatever was out there.
Ever since they declared support for muggleborns and as she and Fleamont began to increasingly advocate for minorities and help organizations of students who couldn't afford to buy supplies and clothing for the Hogwarts school years, they were marked as a target for the other traditional families, carrying a huge red flag where ''traitors'' was written in bold letters.
Euphemia couldn't care less about that, she was more than happy to be considered a traitor if it meant she was doing good.
âWhat was that?â James muttered, haunted brown eyes staring like he was going to war.
Her son didn't go to war, though, not when he couldn't even drink yet.
ââStay in the room, and get the portkey. Anything, use it!â She instructed him, but James seemed too stubborn to accept that. "James, enter your room now, and stay there."
âThree is better than two.â He continued to follow them, Monty further along and having already made a protective barrier between him and her and James.
ââNot when one of them is fifteen. Now come in and stay there, me and your dad let's see what's going on.'
''Mom-''
"Don't make me need to use magic to get you to do what I want." She said authoritatively, and that caused James to fall back a few steps, looking at her startled. Euphemia mentally thanked him for that and walked downstairs, thinking that later she would apologize for talking to him like that, but that's because she wasn't risking her boy in that situation.
Monty raised his wand and opened the door, ready to attack whoever was there on the other side, but before he could, Sirius raised his arms and closed his eyes as if he too was waiting to be attacked. ââSirius?!ââ
ââI'm sorry, I-ââ
''What did we do on our last trip?'' Fleamont asked, and as much as Euphemia thought it was unnecessary - please just bring the boy inside he'll freeze! - she knew they were in the middle of a war.
''You tried to learn to surf with me and James, but you nearly broke your ankle when you fell.'' Sirius kept his arms raised, and she noticed that his lips were purple from the cold, and that jacket didn't seem to warm him. She didn't even wait for Monty to lower his wand and went over to him, pulling Sirius into their house and hugging him tightly, wanting more than anything to take away whatever inner pain seemed to haunt him.
He looked too terrified for a sixteen-year-old boy.
"What happened, Pads?" James ran up to them, looking worried about him too. ââYou didn't even answer my letter and-ââ
''I...I ran away from home.'' He shrugged and avoided looking her or Monty in the eye, Euphemia realized he had a backpack on his back. Her heart ached so much that she couldn't stop the tears. She pulled Sirius even tighter against her. "Mia, if I can't stay here, it's okay, it's just that I came walking-"
ââDid you walk all the way here?! It's almost an hour and a half of walking, boy!â Monty yelled. "Someone could have tried something against you."
''It was okay, I,'' Sirius looked at James, and she knew he wasn't telling her all the details and he'd probably done something against the law to not die in the snow, but she didn't care about that now. "It was the first place I thought of coming."
ââOf course, dear, of course. James, make him a hot bath, and Monty heat up dinner⌠are you hungry, Sirius?â He nodded, cheeks burning with embarrassment. ''Here, come sit in front of the fireplace⌠And of course you can stay here, please, I don't even want to think that you thought I wouldn't accept you.'' She sighed, walking with him to the sofa and taking off the wet jacket he wore, waving her wand so that the nearly extinguished fire began to crackle again, warming the room. "You can live with us Sirius, don't worry, you don't have to go back to those horrible people anymore." His gray eyes blinked with tears, and it was probably the first time she'd seen Sirius cry. ââDon't worry honey, you're fine nowâŚââ
----
ââMinnie,
I'm so glad you warned me about this, and I understand your concern.
Sirius ran away from home last night, he didn't want to tell us what happened and I think at some point I'll know, but the boy looks terrified now.
He's not okay, but he's going to be. And I've already sent a letter to Dumbledore telling him that now anything that happens to him is to call us.
I don't think Walburga or Orion will complain, they let their son run away in the middle of a blizzard and so far they haven't looked for him. But it's better this way, Monty would probably kill them if they showed up at our door.
You know that we always wanted to have one more child anyway.
With love,
Euphemia.ââ

You were running up and down in the kitchen, from the stove to the fridge, from the cupboards to the table. You were preparing the dinner for Christmas Eve, a chaotic tension running through you as you tried to keep yourself organised. As Albert Einstein, a muggle scientist said in a book youâve read; âOrder is for idiots, genius can handle chaosâ. You prided yourself in always getting things done, even in the midst of all the unfortunate events that could possibly occur.
Your mince pies were all done, still cooling down on the top of the counter with your Yorkshire puddings chilling beside them. Mulled wine brewed on one side of the stove, whilst the turkey slowly cooked in the oven. You chopped up your ingredients for the perfect roast potatoes and placed them in the oven, right above the turkey.
You always preferred cooking the old-fashioned, muggle way, no magical touch until the washing up. But at times, you found it calming and tossed your wand aside, thinking your day through whilst doing the dishes.
Christmas music blasted from the background, an old muggle radio playing the most popular Christmas songs. Traditional English Christmas dinner was cooking in the kitchen, traditional Christmas songs playing in your living room, traditional Christmas stocking hanging above the fireplace, traditional Christmas tree standing in the corner of the room decorated in red, gold and green.
You loved Christmas and since you havenât been alone for a long time, it was always a special day for you to celebrate it to the best of your abilities, mixing old traditions with new traditions, muggle word with wizarding world.
You heard the knocker on your door, making you frown as you looked up at the giant antique clock above the entrance of the kitchen. You still had about two hours before the order members were supposed to arrive. The turkey and the potato were still in the oven, your mulled wine only halfway finished sitting on the stove.
You walked across the hall, peaking into the living room with a small smile on your face as you headed to the black, wooden entrance door of your flat. You looked through the peephole, but there was noone outside. You opened the door reluctantly, hand on your wand, tucked inside your back pocket as you peaked out of the tiny gap between the door and its frame.
Your eyes widened in surprise as you recognised the man in front of you. His hair grew longer, his face got skinnier, his body exposed under the white button up shirt, covered in tattoos you have not seen before. You loudly gasped at the sight of the man as you opened the door wider in your shocked state.
âHey-â he greeted you with a shy smile, one that you were not used to from the proudest, most confident man you have ever met. But that was 13 years ago, before his incarceration in Azkaban.
âSirius.â You breathed, your lips and tongue unable to cooperate with the hundreds of questions swirling around in your confused mind.
You were both standing in the door awkwardly, none of you saying a word. You couldnât make a coherent sentence and Sirius didnât dare to interrupt you from processing the situation.
You felt your heartbeat in your throat, your palms sweating as you held onto the doorknob. You watched the man you once loved more than your own life, standing right in front of you and now you didnât know what to say, what to do, you didnât even know where to put your hands in your shocked state.
You knew he escaped Azkaban, it wasnât a secret. You knew he was in hiding, Remus told you what happened in Hogwarts, but he never came looking for you and you thought you would never see him again. Noone knew where he was, only that he left Europe.
Thinking he forgot about you was easier than to face him and getting rejected after waiting for him for so long. So you stayed still. Deep down you wished your thoughts were simply a game your mind was playing against you, but now that he stood in front of you, you didnât even dare to breathe, afraid of scaring the man away.
âIâm sorry, come in.â The words rolled off your tongue without your knowledge, your head was in a different space. Sirius smiled lightly as he stepped inside and waited for you to walk him wherever you could talk. You headed towards the kitchen, offering him a chair as you walked to the stove and stirred your mulled wine absentmindedly. âI knew you escaped, but you never showed.â You blurted it out as the spoon fell out of your hand, onto the stove. You didnât care about the cutlery, you turned around, your gaze firmly fixed on his grey eyes, ones that you always found to be his unique trait.
âI wanted to, but-â he cut himself off, trying to search for the right words. Both of you were afraid of saying something wrong, dancing on the edge of every word that left your lips.
âYou were scared.â He nodded as you finished his sentence.
âI was scared that you had- someone else in your life. That- maybe you didnât-â his words didnât seem to come easy and if anyone, you understood the best. You were struggling with what to say and even how to say it.
â-love you anymore?â You finished his sentence once again, making him smile lightly.
âYes.â He breathed in a silent whisper, his words inaudible, but you could read the word of his lips.
âMom.â A young teenage boy ran out of the living room with an envelope in his hands, a carbon copy of you. Same hair colour, same facial structure, even to the last little mole, he was a boyish version of you. âWe got a letter from Uncle Remus.â He shouted as he ran up to you, his hand holding the envelope up, reaching towards you.
Your eyes widened as you looked at the boy, before your gaze wandered to the man seated across the table. A shaky breath left your lungs as you took the envelope from the boy and engulfed him in a hug, hinting a small kiss on the top of his head. âMom!â He whined, trying to get out of your hold, making you chuckle. You let go of him as he turned around, his gaze meeting with Siriusâ.
The man looked shocked beyond belief, his lips widely parted, his eyes dilated, his hands grabbing the side of the table, making his fingers paler by the second. He scoffed as his eyes grew even wider and stood up from the table ready to leave.
âJames, can you please go to the living room?â You asked your son, although reluctantly but he headed to the other room.
âYou named him James?â Sirius turned back with a dumbfounded expression.
âYes, of course.â You replied with a deep frown, clear confusion sitting across your face. âSirius, please sit back and letâs talk.â
âWhat else do you want to talk about?â He shook his head as he headed towards the door, his back hunched, his jaw clenched. âI never understood why Remus kept nagging me to see you. I knew it was a bad idea and I was right all along. I shouldnât have listened to him, I shouldnât have come here.â He stated weakly, his voice breaking.
âSirius can you just stop for a second and listen to me?â You asked as he reached for the doorknob, but you took your wand out and as soon as he opened the door, you closed it right back. âI promise you, if you donât like what you hear, I will let you go, and we will never ever search for you.â You replied as the tears started rushing down your reddened cheeks. âBut let me tell you whatâs going on before you come to any wrong conclusions.â You choked as you tried to keep your sobs down, before the only person you have ever loved disappeared from your life once again.
âWhat do you want to talk about?â He asked weakly, pulling on the doorknob, but it didnât budge. âI couldnât possibly ask you to wait for 13 years and even if I canât show it at the moment, I am happy for you for moving on, for finding someone you love, for building a family, but please let me out.â He was pleading for you to let him go, but you didnât give in.
âSirius, can you please look at me?â You asked the man who stood with his back to you, his hands painfully holding the doorknob in his grasp. A deep, loud sigh left his lungs as he turned around, his jaw clenched tight, his eyes glistening of the unshed tears. You took a couple of steps forward to get closer to him but kept a safe distance in case he was ready to leave by the end of what you were about to reveal. âI havenât had anyone since you.â You confessed, as you watched the man frown in confusion, before his eyes grew wide in surprise.
âWhat? But your son-â he began, but his words stuck in him, his mouth agape.
âHe is 12 years old.â You nodded in confirmation.
âHe is my-â Sirius started once again, but he was incapable of finishing a coherent sentence, his heart beating at a dangerous speed, his head a mess of confused thoughts.
âYes, he is yours.â You nodded robotically, trying to refrain yourself from showing anymore emotions. You wanted to jump into his neck and kiss him, you wanted to bring out your son to introduce them to each other, but deep down you were terrified he would reject both his son and you.
You never talked about family back then and whilst you loved each other passionately, warmly, sweetly, you never knew how he would react if you announced that you were expecting his baby.
âI wanted to tell you, before all those horrible events happened, but I kept pushing it further and further, afraid of losing you, scared that you wouldnât want the baby. By the time I felt ready to speak to you, everything came down crumbling and we lost Lily and James, whilst you were sent to Azkaban and Remus was struggling to even make enough money to live. It was- a terrible time.â You exhaled as you looked down on the dark carpet covering your hallway, reliving that horrible night and all the events that followed after. Your tears started again, rolling down your cheeks, soaking your skin in the salty liquid. Your breath hitched before you could continue.
âI knew you escaped, I knew you were hiding somewhere, noone knew where. Although even if I knew, I wouldnât have gone to look for you. I thought you wouldnât want to see me, that you forgot about me and whilst it breaks my heart to think about it, if thatâs the case, I accept that. But I need you to tell me that you donât want us, otherwise I will keep hoping.â Your voice broke as you finished your monologue, hoping for the man in front of you to say that he needed you, that he wanted his son, that he couldnât be happier to be beside you.
âI thought you already had someone else. I never thought youâd be waiting.â He shook his head, stunned.
âI was. I was waiting for you, Sirius, even if at times I thought you would never leave that hellhole, even if at times it was terrifying to be a single mom, even if at times I thought I would never see your face again. I was waiting even when you escaped, even when I thought you didnât think of me anymore.â You confessed with a small smile playing in the corner of your lips. The fact that he was still standing in front of you, instead of running away, made you feel hopeful.
âI never forgot about you, I was just scared to search for you and turn your life upside down, especially when I thought you have moved on already. There wasnât a day I didnât think of you, but I had to shove it into the back of my mind. Iâm a fugitive, Iâm wanted, the ministry is looking for me. I couldnât just come to you.â He stepped closer, placing his hand on your cheek, caressing your skin with his slightly calloused thumb. He leaned closer, placing a small kiss on your forehead, not daring to make the next step just yet.
He heaved a deep sigh, leaning his forehead against yours. You enjoyed the silent breaths between you, the calm atmosphere. Noone of you dared to step over the boundaries, even if both of you needed to be closer to each other.
You took a deep breath, before you exhaled shakily. âYou know, he knows who you are.â Sirius knew what you meant without another word. âI wanted him to know his father.â You couldnât read Siriusâ expression, but you were hoping it wouldnât be the moment he leaves. âDo you want to meet him? Properly?â You asked, but before you let him answer you continued. âI donât want to pressure you. If you need time to think, thatâs perfectly fine.â You added quickly.
âI want to meet him.â He smiled softly, a nerves knot sitting in the pit of his stomach. You got hold of his hand, the feeling of his long fingers folding around your hand making you nostalgic and somewhat giddy. You walked him towards the living room, both of you halting in the doorway, watching James seated in front of the Christmas tree with a photo of a younger Sirius in his hand.
âJames?â You called your son, making him jump. He looked up at you, before his eyes wandered to Sirius, studying the man. âCan you come here, please?â You asked and the boy stood up, walking over to you. James faced Sirius, both of them studying each other with a curious gaze.
âHe is my dad, isnât he?â He asked, looking up at you with the identical grey eyes his father had, his gaze questioning. You nodded in a reply, watching as he reached his hand towards Sirius, who accepted it with a proud smile. âIâm James.â He introduced himself.
âIâm Sirius.â He replied with a nod.
âIs he staying?â James asked as he looked up at you waiting for a reply. Your stomach jumped at the thought, but you didnât know how to reply. You turned to Sirius for an answer.
A wider smile started spreading across his face as he squeezed your hand, which you still didnât let go of, completely forgetting about how natural it felt to be connected with him. âIf you let me, that would be amazing.â Sirius replied confidently, making you let out a single laughter.
âI would love that.â You smiled happily. âCan I leave the two of you alone until I try to save the food from burning?â You asked with a silent chuckle. Both of the boys nodded confidently, waiting for you to leave. They watched you with eager eyes as you looked back at them, making sure that everything was going well.
You quickly headed to the kitchen, pulling out the roasted potatoes and turkey from the oven, slightly burned, but still edible enough. You placed the trays on top of the unoccupied part of the stove and removed the mulled wine from the fire, before turning it off. You tried to work as fast as you could, impatiently wanting to head back to your boys. Seeing them together was like a dream come true and you felt like you were still dreaming. You needed to see them again as soon as possible to be able to believe it was all happening to you.
You rushed back to the living room as soon as you finished and leaned against the doorframe watching as Sirius and James talked about quidditch, both with a childlike enthusiasm across their face. It was an idyllic moment you cherished dearly, the two most important men in your life bonding over their common interests. You never wanted to step out of that sweet reality you found yourself in.
âNo, thatâs not true. I will show you the best broomstick.â James exclaimed as he started off towards his room with a wide smile across his face, almost shoving you out of the way, before shouting a quick âsorryâ to you.
âHe is an amazing kid.â Sirius stated with a cheerful grin across his face as he waved you over to the couch.
âI know, I tried to do my best.â You nodded in agreement as you took a seat beside Sirius.
âYou did a fantastic job, love.â He beamed, his gaze warm and loving, just like all those years ago, capturing your complete focus, his pet name for you rolling off his tongue just as smoothly as all those years ago.
âAre you really staying?â You asked. âAt least for a while?â
âI donât ever want to leave you or James again.â He sighed deeply. âI still love you just as much as before, if not more and I want nothing more than to get to know my son. Our son.â He lifted his hand, caressing your face. âI want to be with you again. I want to support you and make up for the time we lost.â He leaned his forehead against yours, closing his eyes, enjoying the moment with you.
You didnât want to wait longer, nor could you do so. You closed the gap between you, attaching your lips to his, wrapping your arms around his neck as his hands sneaked around your waist.
It was just as perfect and exciting as you remembered, if not better and you didnât want to let go of him for as long as you could keep him in your arms. So many memories resurfaced whilst his lips moved against your, all the moments you have shared appearing to you like a happy little montage.
âCome on, Mom!â You heard Jamesâ annoyed voice and you quickly parted from Sirius, both of you slightly panting from the passionate kiss.
âSorry.â You chuckled as you watched his deformed expression, a disgusted grimace sitting across his face, before it slowly turned into a small smile.
âIâm glad we are all together, but keep that behind closed doors.â James whined, making you giggle as he sat down in front of the couch on the carpet, showing his broomstick to Sirius. He threw his arm around your shoulder, pulling you into his side, hinting a kiss on top of your head.
The food got cold and was slightly burned by the time the guests arrived, but you were the happiest person in that moment, and nothing could ruin it. Your family being together for the first time was the best Christmas present you could ever wish for.

Hereâs something thatâs been weighing on my mind recently about Sirius Black and the whomping willow. I will not be discussing the movies due to the fact that the Marauders were almost completely erased. A lot of people forget that the books explicitly state that Sirius Black was 16 years old when he tried to kill Snape
"Sirius Black showed he was capable of murder at the age of sixteen," he breathed. "You haven't forgotten that, Headmaster? You havenât forgotten that he once tried to kill me?" (Prisoner of Azkaban)
He was also 16 years old when he ran away from home and was disowned
âI used to be there ... My sweet old mother blasted me off after I ran away from home ... When I was about sixteen. I'd had enough." (Order of The Phoenix)
I think this is really important and it explains what happened during the whomping willow prank. We donât know a whole lot about Marauders era but we do know Sirius came from an abusive childhood home and for it to get to the point where he had to run away, it mustâve been pretty bad at the end. What makes me think it was really, really horrible was him showing signs of depression and PTSD in Order of The Phoenix when he forced to stay locked inside of Grimmauld Place. I canât say what his mental state was like during Marauders era and during the time he sent Snape to the whomping willow but I can tell you that it wasnât good. I personally believe he was in the middle of a mental breakdown. We know heâs an impulsive and emotional person. He was a literal ticking time bomb and Snape just happened to be there when he exploded. And it makes sense. Sirius hated his family and the bigotry they supported. He wanted nothing to do with it and wanted it to be gone. He witnessed first hand how horrible blood purism is while Snape was obsessed with dark magic, supported blood purism, and was running around with death eaters. Oh, and he was a bigot. I also want to leave you guys with two pieces of canon information and you can interpret it however you want but Iâll also tell you what I interpret in them.
In Deathly Hallows, itâs shown Snape was obsessed with finding out what the Marauders secret was. Snape stans like to say itâs because he was so traumatized and bullied that he was looking for any reason to get the Marauders kicked out and once he had proof, Dumbledore didnât do anything about it or protect him and forced him to keep quiet about his trauma. Iâm here to say thats a big no and it actually sounds pretty stupid because:
Snape and James had a rivalry. Itâs mentioned in the books that he gave as good as he got. It wasnât a âJames attacked Snape all the timeâ situation but rather a âThey attacked each otherâ situation
Snape started the rivalry. On the first day on the train, James made a comment about being in Slytherin, Snape took offense to it (despite nobody talking to him) and then proceeded to make fun of James and Gryffindor, implying he wasnât intelligent (which is funny since James ended up being head boy and Snape....didnât)
Dumbledore made him be quiet about it because Remus was innocent in the whole situation. If Snape had snitched to the whole school that Remus was a werewolf, an innocent child wouldâve been kicked out of school, attacked, harassed, and even sent to Azkaban. He wouldâve suffered for choices he didnât make.
The second piece of information I want to drop here is that Sirius told Snape how to get past the whomping willow. But what no one really thinks of is:
Peter. Peterâs whole role in the Marauders was being a rat and small enough to touch the knot at the base of the whomping willow. The only way for someone to get past the whomping willow is being small enough (rat or cat) to get close and deactivate the tree. Sirius told Snape how to get past the whomping willow but I very much believe that he didnât actually think heâd be able to get past it. Especially since the Marauders can only get past it with Peter. How would Sirius know that Snape could get past it? And how would he anyway?
Snape already suspected Remus was a werewolf. Thatâs a canon fact. He tried exposing him to Lily and Lily shut him down. I personally feel like she already knew and wanted to protect Remus. The point? Sirius told him how to get past the whomping willow. He didnât make him do anything. He didnât hold a wand to his throat and make him go down there. Snape made the choice, on a full moon, to go to where the Marauders go already believing Remus is a werewolf. Let me repeat that. Snape was following the Marauders and trying to find out their secret because heâs a horrible person. He believed Remus was a werewolf. He went to the whomping willow on a full moon. Somebody call the village because I think theyâre missing their idiot.

Oh and Hello to you today you fine and brilliantly skilled author who I have came to love and adore, you see I know Iâd already recently requested something from you but I had a taste of your absolutely amazingly fine talent and just had to come back for more
Ya see, this person here (hem hem, me) would like to ask if she could request something dealing with Young Remus Lupin Remmy Boi being a sweet older brother during the summer to his adoptive sister who is almost his age and very gay and him letting her hang out with him and the Mauraders because her friends were douchbags and skippy skip to Remus letting her rant about it while they sit in his bed, her head in his lap while sheâs curled up in a ball and heâs half-heartedly reading while talking to her about her douche-bag friends before he cuddles his sis to his chest and lets her sleep in his bed that night
Anywho, sorry for annoyin you again but Iâve had a shit day and wanted to relax with one of my fav authors and a cuppa tea
baby i was so excited to write this, my internal message to homophobes lies within this one shot. y/nâs vent gave me very âgia ranting her her friends about being bi and it should be nobodies businessâ
my little sister
brother!remus lupin x fem!reader, girlfriend!marlene mckinnon x fem!reader
warnings: homophobia, mentions of slurs, mentions of conversion camp, angst? but not rly, fluffy remus, WOLFSTARđ, swearing, jokingly mentions of murder, big brother energy from remus, um mentions of penises and masterbatingđ, lowkey ravenclaw slander (ONLY MALES I PROMISE) and y/n being a baddie
word count: 1.3k
you were.... happy. yes, not in a sarcastic way. you had finally found a girl that didnât just want to be your friend, or hate crime you. you found a girl that you wanted to kiss, a girl you wanted to love and girl that reciprocated that love. but unfortunately for you, your love choices had consequences and everyone else thought it was there business, commenting on it.
âđźđś, đšđđ˝đśđť! đľđŽđđ˛ đđźđ đđźđšđą đđźđđż đłđŽđ¸đ˛ đđśđđđ˛đż đđľđ˛âđ đťđźđ đťđźđżđşđŽđš đđ˛đ?â

so to society, you werenât normal. the worst part was you werenât always the one hearing it, the girls in your dorm heard it, your brother heard about it and his best friends also happen to hear about it. that also never happened to stop them from shooting a hex or 20 in someoneâs direction but, nonetheless, you âwerenât normal.â
you were sitting in the library studying next to your gorgeous girlfriend, marlene mckinnon. oh did something as innocent as studying get flipped into so much more, both of you working on mcgonagalls transfiguration homework. all fine and well until the 7th year ravenclaws decided to crawl up your butt and die.
âi see you two havenât been sent away yet.â
âaw well if it isnât the two girls who think theyâre in love.â
âthe two fa-â
one of the boys didnât even get to finish his sentence before your wand was pinned against his neck, and suddenly he was speechless.
ââm gonna say this as delicately as possible to spare your shit feelings but, before you finish your very derogatory sentence i would love for you to reconsider your words.â you started, âi personally think itâs hilarious that you gits are so bothered by whomst mâintimate with.â
âfor being known as the smart house, you đđľđśđťđ´đ are so bloody stupid. i could rip out my own brain and give it to you and it still wouldnât be enough for you to learn how to mind your damn business.â you said firmly, âyour đşđđđ¸ has sunken into the air, so me and my girlfriend are going to get going.â
you took your wand away from his neck before the 3 boys scrambled to the other side of the library, in fear. you gathered both you, and marleneâs things before slinging your bags over your shoulder and walking out of the library. before you could turn the corner, her other arm gripped your arm putting you both to a halt.
you turned towards her beet red face, and eyes shining in adoration. âdude, i think that was the hottest thing you have ever done.â she said before pulling you into a lip lock outside of the library. would you have been very nervous in any other situation?absolutely. i mean you were kissing a female, in public, at school, in 1975. but in this moment you couldnât care less about anything or anyone, just the beautiful girl that you were besotted with kissing you right now.
âgood.â you giggled as you pulled away before pulling her arm in the direction of one of the hidden corridors.
the next time you found yourself diminished over your sexuality, you went to people who you genuinely felt safe and comfortable with. you burst through the marauders dorm, forgetting to knock but quickly covering your eyes.
âi really hope none of you are masterbating right now, because iâm sure as not in the mood to see a penis.â
âcâmon mini-moony, youâre literally never in the mood to see a penis.â sirius replied, you uncovered your eyes and saw sirius walk over to remusâ bed and put his head on remusâ shoulder, and a light blush covered both of there faces. james on the other hand was on the floor writing lily, one of the only other people who supported you, another love letter.
âok so let me start, sirius and remus please splash some cold water on your face. james, get off your arse and actually be a normal person and try and have a normal conversation with lily because i assure you she doesnât even read those letters. and the grand finale, if i get called đđľđŽđ đđźđżđą one more damn time necks will be broken and body parts and fluids will scatter on the floor.â you huffed, and sat at end of remusâ bed nonchalantly.
at the part of your mini-monologue where you mentioned being called a slur, james and sirius happened to jump from where they were, surrounding you with questions. âwho called you that?!â âi need names, now, mini-moony.â meanwhile remus aggressively grabbed his wand and made a bee-line to the door. âOI! BROTHER OF MINE.â remus stopped at the sound of your voice and turned around, his grip on the wand leaving his knuckles a shade of white. âsit. now.â he scoffed before sitting on the bed staring straight at you.
you debated for a moment, before looking at remus. âlucius malfoy and his toerag puppy dog, evan rosier.â you shrugged before all of them made a run at the door, messily grabbing their wands stomping down the stairs leading to the common room.
as fifth year came to an end, summer eventually came to a start. as you were unpacking your trunk and putting your clothes in there rightful spots in your dresser before you heard a knock at the door. âcome in!â
remus opened the door, leaning against the frame. âhey, you okay?â he knew it was a stupid question to ask, but ever since you came into his family he felt a sense of protectiveness over you. he would always look at you like a little girl who needed her laces double knotted because she would trip on them, and how she needed to climb on furniture to grab something and especially when his little sister wasnât his little sister anymore and became and illegal animagus for him.
âhaving your picture with nice little names on them, iâm brilliant.â you said sarcastically before sitting on your bed and remus following your lead. he leaned his back against the headboard as you threw your head on his lap, curling yourself to make yourself as tiny as possible. âi mean why the hell does anyone care anyways? itâs not like iâm intervening in there lives, iâm not killing anyone? it works the exact same except itâs a girl and not a boy. i just donât understand why everyone thinks they should have an opinion on something that isnât there business to start with.â you vented as he rubbed your back, while reading. âi mean, i understand.â you looked at him with a raised brow, âsirius?â he sheepishly looked up from his book and nodded before looking down at his book again and blushing.
âplease, i could spot that from a mile away. i mean you arenât exactly subtle, at the mere touch you both look like you got out of a sauna.â you said, matter of fact like and pointing your finger in the air sassily, âat least lily and james donât care.â he mumbled trying to make you and him feel better. âeveryone shouldnât care, but then again everyone else in this universe is also a pest.â you sighed, as he continued reading but not before speaking.
âpeople are stupid.â
âyouâre right, people are stupid.â
âbut you know what makes us feel better?â
âwhat?â
âchocolate.â
âwow remus, itâs almost like i had no idea.â
âwell iâm always right, so suck it up and take it.â he said shoving a chocolate bar in your face.
âi mean you could always have a sleepover with me where we eat chocolate and laugh at bad movies?â he said before looking down at you.
âremus, first yes, second how the hell does sirius put up with your âknow-it-all-nessâ?â you looked at him smirking, clearly he didnât like that and he closed his book smacking it against your head.
âđźđđ°đľ đżđ˛đşđđ!â

I was once more thinking of vol 8 and other works to compare it to. I hit Harry Potter, specifically Order of the Phoenix. Literally all that happened there showed a much better "proactive Hero" and "Big Bad vs Big Good" battle that it feels unfair to compare. What say you Clyde?
It's been a very long time since I read Order of the Phoenix, but putting aside that and the series' problems with representation (something that always feels like it needs to be acknowledged when discussing HP nowadays), Rowling did a good job of setting up both motivation and justification for Harry's actions. Which isn't to say that he was never wrong â quite the opposite, especially in OotP â but that Harry's involvement in this war is justified in a way that Ruby's involvement is not. He's not just generally active (no tea sipping equivalent scenes), but we understand why he's the one taking that action.
Harry is an unwilling participant forced to fight due to a prophecy, so when he stumbles along the way, we as the reader are understanding because jeez, what else what he supposed to do? Literally no one else can do this and he's trying his best. Ruby, in contrast, is not necessary to this fight. We might have gotten that with her silver eyes, but we didn't, so when Ruby willingly steps up â or, in Volume 8, forcibly takes control â and then gets upset because things didn't go well, the viewer (or at least some viewers: us) are far less forgiving because she demanded this responsibility and then found she didn't like having it. When Harry rushes off to the Department of Mysteries, endangering many of his friends in the process (even if they volunteered) we understand that this action is done out of love. We've spent five books establishing Harry's desire for a family, it's literally his greatest wish according to the Mirror of Erised, so going after Sirius, while reckless, is such an in-character, relatable, human decision. It's integral to who Harry is as a person. Compare that to the lack of work done surrounding Summer and the unanswered question of why Ruby is fighting Salem. Because it's the right thing to do? Great, fantastic, but uh... that doesn't really explain or justify why she's leading the charge when all these other huntsmen â with the same goals, more experience, better plans, etc. âare trying to do The Right Thing too. When thinking about HP vs. RWBY, my mind always goes back to that moment at the end of the first book when Harry tries to tell McGonagall about the stone and she brushes him off. "Ah," I thought later. "That's why three 11yos are going off to save the magical artifact when there are adult, full-fledged wizards around to do it instead. The kids tried to turn hand this off to the adults and the adults failed them." Now, combine this with Harry's growing tendency to go it alone, the implication that Dumbledore may have been allowing him to face certain threats to get stronger, each book's individual situation like a hidden chamber that only Harry can enter, his Godfather being on the run, a magically binding contract that keeps him in a competition because the bad guys are specifically after him... Harry is at the heart of the story. He's integral to it, his part in the fight inevitable, so all that's left is to see how he bears that burden.
Ruby is not integral to this fight, her presence and even her silver eyes are not necessary, her facing down Salem is only inevitable from a meta perspective regarding expectations for a protagonist (and then, in Volume 8, Ruby didn't face her.) There's no clear personal motivation to drive her. There's not even a Guardian's of the Galaxy-esque motivation in the form of, "We'll step up because no one else will." Others do keep stepping up and Ruby keeps forcing them to follow her instead, insisting that her way is better. Only problem is, it's arguably not and that's when she has a plan at all. It's like if instead of going after the stone because his professors won't, or going after Sirius because he loves him, or going after Voldemort because a prophecy and a life of having a saving-people-thing has pushed him to that, Harry made his way to the front of this war Just Because, rejecting everyone else who fought in the first war, has more experience, and actual plans along the way. Why does he do this? Because his name is in the title of the book, I guess.
RWBY throws in lost of classic ideas and setups, but doesn't seem to understand their point. Even something as simple as that Big Bad vs. Big Good conflict in Volume 8. Putting aside how muddied this has gotten between the Gods' involvement and Salem's dip in the grimm pool, Volume 8 took the threat of our Big Bad arriving with an army and... ignored it. Instead, they ran with Ironwood as the primary antagonist of the volume, the guy trying to stop Salem, a previously established ally, the guy who just gave up his arm to capture another clear-cut villain, and who throughout Volume 7 demonstrated none of the manipulation we would attribute to a Dumbledore-like figure. Rather than running with their Big Bad's arrival, RWBY asked how they could force one of the good guys to become a bad guy instead, hence the sudden shooting of Oscar and murder of the councilman. This is a far from perfect comparison (and I take my virtual life in my hands bringing up another controversial character lol), but it's a little like if after we learned about which side Snape was truly on, he suddenly tried to kill Hermione, succeeded in killing a minor character like Professor Flitwick, and then made plans to destroy all of Hogwarts. Meanwhile, everyone is ignoring Voldemort standing on the front lawn because the narrative randomly made Snape the biggest problem instead. So a lot of the fanbase is like, "Yeah he's absolutely a dick and his horrific past/contentious choices are the point of his character... but he's also supposed to be one of the good guys at the end of the day? And the Big Bad is right there? We can argue about how 'good' Snape is until we're blue in the face, but he's no Voldemort. Why did you feel the need to chuck the morally gray character off the deep end for our heroes to oppose when our primary antagonist is literally right here, trying to kill them?" From this, to introducing a dead mother that in no way motivates our cast, to having Oscar face down Salem with an improvised weapon instead of Ruby with her eyes, to giving Penny an arc about accepting her android body only to rip it away, etc. etc. RWBY continuously throws out ideas without understanding what they're meant to accomplish. There's a lot to criticize about Harry Potter nowadays, but a lack of logical development isn't one of them.
And just to chuck in another text â because I too think about what has done Volume 8 themes better lol â consider: Loki. Stop reading now if you don't want spoilers, but a couple episodes in Loki and Sylvie end up on a dying planet that is only evacuating the rich. That's said overtly in both the dialogue and visually in the mise-en-scene, with poor people screaming that only the rich are getting tickets for the rocket and elaborately dressed elites enjoying the comforts of that ride. Then, just as they're about to escape, leaving the rest of their world behind, a piece of the moon hits the ship, either killing them instantly or stranding them with the people they abandoned. And I thought to myself, "See, this makes sense in a way RWBY never did." Evacuation was never about wealth in RWBY, despite what the fandom continually claims. Ironwood was trying to evacuate everyone and only stopped because they all assumed Salem would be killing them momentarily. This situation included Relics and a Maiden that would easily turn the tide of the war, meaning their safety influenced the whole world, not just these people. Mantle was not necessarily about to be destroyed â indeed, we find out later that Salem had no interest in it â and it was always a bad faith (and OOC) assumption that Ironwood was leaving his kingdom for good. The story doesn't even acknowledge the huge number of Mantle citizens already on Atlas when the attack begins. I was just sitting there thinking, "This two episode mini conflict in an insane show with alligators and time shenanigans somehow holds up better than RWBY's 27 episodes that are trying to be deep. How does that happen?"

If Only I Had Stayed In The Shadows - Chapter Ten
James Potter x OC
Words: 4,8k
Prologue  Chapter One  Chapter Two  Chapter Three  Chapter Four  Chapter Five  Chapter Six  Chapter Seven  Chapter Eight Chapter Nine
The break passed and life in Hogwarts continued in blissful peace for the next few months. At least for us students. Outside of the walls and grounds of Hogwarts, the situation was getting darker and darker each day. People went missing or were declared as dead, causing chills down our spines whenever the list grew longer with each newspaper.
I sighed, folding a piece of parchment that contained a letter from my parents about their well being. They were alright but had to take a lot of extra hours, giving how more and more muggleborn or halfblood wizards and witches were registered every day and night with the worst injuries at their hospital. Some - if not many - did not make it by the end of the next dawn. A hand snatched the letter from my hand and I glanced over at the messy-haired boy next to me as he unfolded it again. "Ever heard of privacy?" I asked and his eyes widenend in mock-astonishment, "No, what's that?"
His good mood evaporated slightly though after he skimmed the letter and an usually solemn expression graced his features instead. "Things are really getting worse everyday, aren't they?" he asked quietly, catching Sirius' attention from his other side.
"What's getting worse everyday?" he questioned, joining our conversation. Remus, Peter, Lily and Marlene looked up from their sheets as well. We were gathered together in the Common Room, sitting at one table to 'study'. Some would think it odd since we never usually mingled together, especially with Lily's open hatred towards James and everything the Marauders stood for. But ever since he and I got together, everyone consequently spent more time together as a group, surprisingly getting along...most of the time.
"A lot of people are dying or getting injured," James replied, handing me back my letter.
"Mom says, the hospital is being run down. They won't be able to carry so many patients for long," I added, feeling uneasy, "Apparently the healthcare system is close to collapsing."
"That's bad," Marlene commented, worry creasing her forehead, "What's going to happen if this goes on?" Everyone shrugged, glancing at each other helplessly as no one had an answer.
"The Ministry will figure it out eventually," Remus tried to reassure us all, straightening up in optimism.
"Right, they always do," Lily agreed, causing Sirius to scoff quietly. She gave him a challenging look, raising her eyebrow. "You've got anything to say, Black?"
"There is a lot I could say that would certainly not please you, Evans," Sirius quipped.
"Anyways," James cut in before a bicker session could begin between them, "We shouldn't turn our hair grey because of this. We are young! And still have more than a year left in the safest place in the country."
I nodded in agreement, leaning into him as he threw his arm around me. Lily silently flickered her deep green eyes between us.
"But what happens after we graduate?" Peter spoke up with an almost quivering voice as he still looked worried.
"Let our future selfs worry about that," Sirius dismissed.
"We should still have a plan though," Lily pointed out and I allowed a frown on my face after she finally ripped her intense gaze off. She had been doing that a lot lately, staring at our interactions longer than deemed normal. What was her issue? "You know, the teachers are planning to start sessions for career advice with each of us. Having no plan probably won't look good."
"Oh, I already know what I'm going to do," Sirius shot back immediately, smirking confidently, "Auror sounds pretty enticing, especially during this time, doesn't it?"
"Same," James said and I resisted the urge to raise my eyebrows at his confidence, "That or Quidditch," he added as an afterthought.
"I don't know," Marlene mused, "Auror does have a nice ring to it but I always thought I would do something with Potions...," Stunned silence and a collective jaw drop followed. The brown-haired beauty burst out in laughter at our disbelieved looks, shaking her head, "Just joking. You should see your faces."
I rolled my eyes at her. "You really got us there for a second, Marls," Remus chuckled.
The evening passed and even though I would have liked to say we did a lot of studying...we didn't. "Well, Remus and I gotta go," Lily sighed, getting up, "We're patrolling tonight."
"Uh, sounds fun," Marlene commented sarcastically and the red head shot her a look.
"Right, on it!" Remus got up as well, readying himself, "Boys, don't pull any pranks tonight. It will make me look bad."
"But Moony, now is the best time! With you on patrol, we won't get any punishment!" Sirius stated indignantly.
"That's exactly what I mean with making me look bad," Remus remarked with a sigh, "I'm a prefect, mate. Help me out by not doing anything."
The black-haired boy seemed to contemplate his options before giving in with a pout, "Fine, but you owe me."
"Good boy," Remus said, patting his head like a dog, "I'll see you guys later...ladies, have a good night."
"Night, Remus!"
"So, if no pranks are allowed...how about we get a midnight snack from the kitchen and head to the Astronomy Tower?" James suggested and I gave him an offended look even though my heart fluttered at his romantic suggestion. "I am second to your pranks? Really?"
"Of course you are!" Sirius snickered.
"Of course you are not!" James contradicted and it was his best mate's turn to give him an affronted look. "Really, Prongs? You're giving me up for a lass so easily?"
"...Pretty much, yes," James shrugged, causing me to snort.
Sirius pouted. "Can I at least tag along?"
"Me too?" Peter added himself.
"Sorry mates, this time is only for me and my love," James declined, pulling me closer as we got up and kissing my temple. I blushed slightly at his open affection. Ever since New Year's Eve we had become closer and practically glued to each other. I couldn't believe my luck at this point, wondering how I had managed to capture the attention of this charismatic and sweet boy when I was a rather boring girl with a boring life. Yet, here we were, officially together for about four months in and going strong.
After grabbing a few snacks from the kitchen, we headed up to the highest tower in the school. I sat down at the ledge, leaning against the barrier with my arms and resting my chin on them as I breathed in the fresh night air. James settled down next to me, quietly handing me a sandwich I bit into immediately whilst we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and presence of the other. The view was magnificent, moonlight reflecting from the slight waves of the black sea and I imagined the Giant Squid breaking the surface with its tentacles from time to time.
"What are you thinking about?" James eventually asked softly and I glanced over. His cheek rested on his crossed arms, eyes locked on my face. I blushed slightly at his gaze, looking back out at the landscape. A tinge of happiness rose in me as I thought how life was for me at the moment. Despite my parents throwing fits because of my career choices, I had a great boyfriend, who supported me in everything. And as clichĂŠ as it sounded, he made me feel safe during the dangerous times of war raging just outside of the Hogwarts grounds. Is that what love makes you feel-? My thoughts came to a screeching halt at the l-word before it started racing uncontrollably fast. Love? Did I love him?
"Cec?" James poked my arm, breaking me out of my reverie and I twitched slightly in surprise, "Are you spacing out on me?"
"N-no, I was just...," my eyes flickered around for an escape, "..daydreaming," I ended lamely, pressing my mouth against my underarm.
"Okay?" James raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing me, "Are you cold? You are twitching like a weirdo."
"Jeez, thanks," I said sarcastically, though immediately blushed when he scooted closer, throwing an arm around me. "It's alright, weirdo," he said with a grin, "I'll be your knight in shining amor once again and keep you warm."
"And once again, I gotta remind you of a little magic trick called Heating Charm," I replied with the same grin, warmth spreading through me at his cute gesture. James was full of cute gestures, it was a miracle no one knew that. Maybe, because he had never been able to show this side of him before. I bit my lip, shyly acknowledging the increase of my heartbeat at his proximity, the realisation of my feelings suddenly becoming clear.
I had fallen for that idiot.
Days had passed and I was mulling over how to tell James about my feelings. Should I tell him at all? Should I wait for him to say it first? Did he feel the same anyway?
There was only one person to ask for love advice. Someone, who had helped me before.
"Marlene, should I tell him?" I asked.
"Absolutely not," the beautiful Gryffindor answered immediately with her eyes wide.
"Why not?"
"The boy has to say it first. That's the rule."
I made a face. "Is that really? Or are you just making it up?"
Marlene sighed, grabbing my shoulders. "Dearest Cec. We girls easily fall in love. And we figure it out quite easily, too. A boy usually needs a while longer and if the girl were to approach him with her feelings, he would immediately feel swamped and make a beeline for the next exit. Until he is not sure of his own feelings, I wouldn't tell him."
I frowned slightly, "That's a bit biased, don't you think? I'm sure not all boys would try to run away."
"Oh believe me, they will," Marlene stated almost darkly. Something told me, she was talking from experience but I was not enough of a Gryffindor to dig deeper. She noticed my gaze though and immediately let go of my shoulders, leaning back in nonchalance. "I mean, you can risk it and tell him or you can wait. Personally, I believe waiting is the best. It doesn't hurt now, does it?"
I pondered over her words whilst wandering the halls in search of the one boy, who kept running through my mind. Sure, it wouldn't hurt to wait for him to say it first, but the question was how long would he need to realise it? Could I perhaps quicken it up by just telling him first, making him notice his own feelings faster? Or would it just pressure him to say it, too even if he doesn't mean it? That thought filled me with horror and I swiftly decided to keep my mouth shut.
Though, when I rounded the corner to the courtyard and saw him standing in all his bespectacled, nut brown messy haired glory I couldn't help but suddenly hear my heartbeat loud and clearly, drumming in my ears in a pace it would usually go after a sprint or a run up of blasted staircases. I couldn't help but stop short in my movements to savour the sight of his smile for a second, the same smile he would direct at his mates and me, all the people he loved (perhaps he did actually love me, too), his teeth shining in the sunlight that would occasionally peak through between the many clouds and I decided to tell him my feelings then and there, head slightly dizzy from the once again quick change of mind. But before I took a step forward, my eyes flickered away from him at the reflection of the sun on shiny red hair, rippled in perfect waves and slightly blinding. And then they flickered towards a pair of glistening, emerald green eyes that were smiling at the exact same boy I wanted to talk and spill my feelings to.
I swiftly stepped back in the shadows, wincing at my own behaviour. Why was I spying on them? They were doing nothing but talking, laughing at each other...something I had never seen Lily do with James before. Ever. Wishing I could hear what they were saying I looked back at James, feeling my chest warm at the sight of his smile but almost burn at the realisation who it was directed to. All the people he loved...
'No,' I shook my head, 'We've talked about this before we got together. He made it clear that he lost interest in her...after pining after her for years.' She clearly never reciprocated his feelings, so their not-lovestory was over when he moved on. But what if she did reciprocate his feelings? I thought back on all the times I caught her staring at us. Could it be that she had been feeling something for him all along and was just hiding it? Or didn't realise it until now?
Marlene's lessons on keeping a boy interested crossed my mind. Would trying hard to get work on girls, too? After all, James had been chasing her for years and suddenly stopped paying attention to her. He was even in a relationship. But would that spark an interest in Lily? Certainly not. She wasn't the type to chase after someone, who was taken, not to mention one, who had been annoying her for years. No, she was just befriending him now that he wasn't pining after her, seeing as they were in the same friendship circles. We were all spending more time together, the girls and the Marauders. And as Marlene, Alice and I were starting to get along more with the boys, so was Lily. It was bound to happen that we all grew closer. If anything, it was a good thing.
I relaxed a bit at that conclusion, smiling slightly as they laughed quite loudly at something James said. Back then, when I was obsessing more over other people's relationships (since I had none of my own), I always thought they would get along really well if James hadn't been chasing her in his boisterous and overly-done way. Him, with his wild and goofy nature that would dare her to many adventures, and her, who would be able to tame him and not take it too far, keeping him on the ground.Â
+A perfect friendship.Â
A perfect relationship.
My smile faded and I turned around. Despite myself, I didn't dare to reveal my feelings to the boy on that day.
Neither did I on the following days that turned to weeks until we reached the end of the spring and the world slowly turned warmer in the first days of the summer with a turn from April to May. Everything was as normal as it could get when you were friends with the Marauders. Classes were the same, Quidditch practices were the same, we had won the last game against Ravenclaw and were now on first place to win the Cup as long as Slytherin lost against Hufflepuff (which was quite unlikely, but nobody tell James). The Marauders pulled their usual pranks, although they were more tamed than in their previous years and less directed at us girls. James and I were still going to strong...yet none of us had said the l-word even though we had been together for almost eight months by now. And although Marlene kept reassuring me that it was normal for boys to take longer in their admittance for love, all the romantic books that I'd read throughout my teenage years stated otherwise. We should have long since reached that stage to proclaim our love for each other, shouldn't we? Hell, James proclaimed his love for Lily everyday for years ever since he saw her and they weren't even together. It shouldn't be hard for him to realise whether he loved me or not.
This fueled my insecurities more each day that passed without a confession, which caused me to keep my mouth shut about my own feelings, too. Instead I found myself frequently catching James and Lily alone, deep in conversation, whenever I was looking for him after he went missing on all of us. Either at the library, where I had never seen him go as often as now and on his own will, too, or outside at the courtyard or on the Hogwarts grounds with her sitting in the shade of a tree and him dangling from a branch above her, grinning down at her as she laughed whenever his glasses slipped askew from his upside down position. It was practically a picture ripped from the pages of a romance novel. And the burning feeling in my chest would continue.
"Lily and James are getting along pretty well, aren't they?" I commented off-handedly one day. Marlene, Alice and I were sat in the library together, studying for the upcoming exams with Lily having gone to fetch more books. Alice tensed up slightly, her eyes flashing from me to her book whilst Marlene looked up, shrugging nonchalantly. "Guess so. Now that he is not annoying her anymore."
"Right. Good thing," I said, nodding along to her words. Needless to say it was relieving to see that she had the same thoughts as me about this. An expert like her would have caught on if there was something more to their sudden closeness, right? Nonetheless I looked over at Alice, who suddenly seemed very busy with scribbling something down on her parchment. Alice, who out of the three of us was the closest to Lily and who would likely know exactly what was going on. "What do you think, Alice?" I asked her bluntly as she didn't seem to want to join the conversation on her own.
Startled, she looked up and I gave her a tight-lipped smile as I awaited her answer. "Eh, yes. They seem to get along better than before. At least, Lily is not yelling her head off anymore every time she sees him," she replied, laughing albeit nervously. Just then, the aforementioned girl headed back towards our table with four books stacked in her arms. I gnawed on my lip, wondering how to ease the constriction in my chest that had been my constant companion for a while now with the ongoing uncertainty.
"Hey Lily, are you dating someone?" I asked her as she sat down. Her books promptly landed on the table with a bang as she had slackened her grip on them in surprise. I cringed slightly at the glare thrown at us from Madam Pince and Lily mouthed a silent 'sorry' at her.
"What? Why do you ask?" she coughed slightly, glancing at the other girls, who had looked up in interest now.
I shrugged. "Just wondering. You are pretty and someone ought to have to courage to ask you out, now that James is not holding anyone back from it," I laughed slightly at the end, hoping to dissolve the suddenly awkward atmosphere that appeared at my statement.
"She's right, Lils," Marlene thankfully butted in, blissfully unaware, "You are the only single among us and you've been for a while. It's time to get some!" Lily went beet red, reaching over to smack her on the arm as we all snickered slightly. "Jesus, Marlene. That's so inappropiate!"
"What? It's true! You are the only single among us. And someone is bound to have asked you out lately! Right?" the brown-haired beauty pressed on and I had never been more grateful for her noisiness than now.
Lily grumbled under her breath, hesitating slightly before she gave in, "Maybe. Some Ravenclaw perhaps." Our eyes widened and Marlene squealed as quietly as she could. "I'm not interested though!" she quickly added at our excited looks, deflating my relief, "Now drop it. We are here to study." And with that, she successfully ended the topic.
Later at night I met up with James at the Astronomy Tower, our usual spot when we wanted to hang out after curfew. "Hey, how was your day?" he greeted me warmly as I sat down next to him at the edge of the tower, resting my arms against the railing. A cool breezed rushed throughout the tower and James quickly scooted closer to wrap his arms around me before I even started to shiver and I smiled at his sweet gesture.
"Quite well. Studied a lot. And you?"
"Quite well. Pranked a lot," he mimicked, grinning when I laughed slightly. "Which poor soul did you harrass this time?" I asked, resting the side of my head against my arms as I listened attentively to him recounting each prank with great detail, his arm leaving me once in a while to emphasize something but never failing to come back around me. "Sounds like you had a lot of fun today...," I remarked when he ended and he nodded with a beaming grin, "...and when did you study?" His beam deflated into a pout, causing my shoulders to shake in silent laughter.
"I don't need to study," he grumbled nudging me. "Sure, you don't." I nudged him back, slipping to the side and almost under the railing when he nudged me slightly harder. He quickly grabbed me by the arm and pulled me back towards him. "Sorry about that," he apologised embarrassed and I giggled slightly, resting against him. "Don't worry, I don't mind this at all," I replied, snuggling my head against his chest. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me tightly towards him. "Mhmm, I'm sure you don't," he chuckled into my hair, his lips grazing slightly against my earlobe and causing me to shiver. I could feel his smile as he deliberatly brushed against my ear again and I squirmed slightly, burying my red face in his chest. "Why so shy all of a sudden?" he teased and I stifled a gasp as he playfully nibbed at my ear. "I'm not shy," I protested, voice muffled. "Is that so?" He tried to back away but I tightened my arms around his waist, firmly keeping my face planted against his chest. "Yes!"
He laughed lightly, promptly dropping on his back and pulling me on top of him. I adjusted my position, placing a leg on each side of his hips and resting my ear on his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. "I could stay like this for a long while," James commented with a blissful sigh as he wrapped his robes around me for warmth. I raised my head to shoot him a smile and he grinned back at me softly. Craning my neck I placed a kiss against his jaw, unable to resist the urge. He quickly pulled me further up, rising up slightly to capture my mouth with his and my eyes fluttered shut as he held the back of my head, his fingers grasping my hair. I fisted his shirt, a swarm of butterflies causing a wreckage in my stomach as he molded his lips against mine, his tongue peeking out to run across my lower lip when a sudden noise erupted somewhere close.
I pulled away quickly. "Did you hear that?" I asked breathlessly as I looked up.
"Hear you moan for me?" James tugged me back down by the neck. "Not yet," he whispered huskily against my mouth. My eyes widened in surprise, heart pounding against my ribcage at his words. He nipped at my lip with his teeth playfully before fully placing his lips against mine again until I almost forgot what had interrupted us in the first place. But the fear of getting caught outside of curfew broke me out of my daze once more. "Seriously, James," I whispered breathlessly, looking up to squint at the doorway, "I think someone's down there. They might come up." James groaned, tugging at my shirt. "No ones down there."
"And what was that noise? What if we get caught?" I asked, sitting up.
"Probably gonna get detenti- uff," he hissed and I glanced down at him to see him holding his breath. "What's wrong...?" I questioned when I realised I had sat up directly on his groin.Â
Oh.Â
"Oh, Cec," he breathed out as his eyes darkened, "You really shouldn't have done that." He shot up, crashing his lips against mine before I could get another word out, his hand coming up to entangle in my hair as his other arm wound tightly around my waist, pulling me flush against him. A small moan escaped me when his sudden movement caused his hips to grind against mine as I sat securely between his torso and his slightly raised knees. "There is my moan," he smirked against my lips and I could have sworn my heart stopped at this devilish sight. Breathing out shakily, I took his face between my hands, seeing his eyes soften slightly before I tilted my head to deepen the kiss, unable to restrain myself in any way. He reciprocated eagerly, his hand fisting in my hair as our tongues clashed together. I moved slightly against him, a flash of excitement coursing through me when I heard his breath hitch. "Fuck, Cec," he groaned in my mouth and my eyes almost rolled back in pleasure at the mere sound. He reached down to grasp my thigh tightly, pulling me closer and I gasped against his mouth. His thumb stroke softly over my skin, smiling at the goosebumps erupting everywhere. He let his hand travel up until he reached the end of my skirt. "Can I?" he asked without detaching his lips once and I nodded, resisting the urge to moan when he dug his fingers in the exposed flesh under my skirt. "James," I breathed out as I broke away for air, feeling him shiver. His mouth trailed down to my neck, nibbling on it as I tangled my hand in his hair, his own letting go of my waist and reaching up to undo the buttons of my shirt-
"James and Cec sitting in a tree," an all to familiar voice reached our ears and my eyes snapped open. "K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" James halted his movements, burying his face in my neck with a groan.
"First comes love!" Sirius sang joyfully as he appeared by the doorway, a piece of parchment in one hand and his wind lit up at the tip in the other. "Then comes marr-holy shit!" His eyes widened slightly at our disheveled figures but his smirk came back as soon as it had disappeared. "My my, first come the babies it seems with you two!"
"Fucking hell, Sirius!" James cursed, turning around to glare at his best mate.
"Hi Prongs!" Sirius greeted innocently, waving his parchment.
"Worst timing ever, mate!" I buried my face in my hand in embarrassment, wondering if our compromising position would go unnoticed if I pretended that it wasn't compromising.
"Sorry Prongsie, your babymaking has to wait. We've got a little something going on tonight," Sirius said, not sounding sorry at all as he nodded outside. I peeked a glance between my fingers to see James' eyes widen under his slightly askew glasses. Glancing over my shoulder I caught sight of the full moon, partially obscured by a few clouds.
"Right, give us a minute please," James requested and Sirius disappeared down the stairs again. His hazel eyes appeared startingly lighter under the shine of the full moon as he grasped my hips softly with both hands. "I've got to go," he said quietly and the atmosphere seemed suddenly serene in contrast to a minute ago.
"That's okay," I replied as quietly, adjusting his glasses once again and he smiled that sweet smile, that one damn sweet smile only reserved for his loved ones and my mouth opened before I could stop myself, "James, I l-"
"Prongs! Hurry up already!" Sirius cut me off from down the stairs. James huffed, rolling his eyes at his mate.
"I'm sorry. I really gotta go," he said and I nodded quickly, scrambling to get up and off him. He adjusted his clothes before stepping closer, giving me a sweet kiss. "Good night, love," he said softly as he fastened up the buttons he had undone on my shirt, "I will see you tomorrow?"
"Definitely. Good night."
Unbeknownst to him, to Sirius and to me, Sirius had just saved me from committing the biggest mistake tonight. Twice.

Love Is You - chapter 28/final
a/n: And we came to the final chapter... I hope you liked the journey with Scarlett. Give her a gift and share your final thoughts about her or the fanfictionâ¤ď¸đšđž

  It has been 7 months since Scarlett and Severus moved into Scarlettâs retirement house in Naxos. Severus has retired after he found out about Scarlettâs illness because he wanted to spend all of his time with Scarlett. Scarlett hasnât wanted him to do that sacrifice for her but Severus was persistent. When they moved to Naxos in June, first couple of weeks passed with decorating the house; their choice of decoration style was a mix of coastal and Greek. After the decoration was done, Scarlett needed to accomplish her other retirement dream which was buying ducklings! Severus reconciled Scarlett that buying only 2 ducklings is enough. She has wanted more but they ended up buying a yellow one and a Rouen one. Scarlett named the Rouen one âCookieâ since it has dark spots and looked like a chocolate chip cookie, yellow one was Severusâs to name and he named it âMilkyâ just to go with cookie and milk theme. Luckily, Scarlettâs cat Athena got along with the ducklings and they all became the cutest trio ever.
  Scarlett and Severus had times of their lives during the whole summer in Naxos. They went to swimming, discovered every corner of the island, had long walks and many more; but their favourite activity to do together was sailing with their small boat and reading books middle of the sea. They believed that either islandâs weather or those activities helped to ease Scarlettâs illness a bit. She wasnât having heart aches or pains frequently and she has passed out only couple of times during the summer. She got even better when Carina and Leo came to visit her time to time. Scarlett wanted to spend rest of the year in Naxos too, they went to London for 2 weeks in September for Scarlettâs yearly check-up and to visit her parents and Carina since she was took Severusâs job after him. When they came back to the island, it was calmer than before since the summer season has ended and all the tourists were back at their countries. They liked it better that way and enjoyed the silence of the island. Everything was going good and well until November arrived. Like how trees lose their leaves in fall, Scarlett started to lose her health. Now she was waking up nauseous every morning and the moment she got off the bed dizziness was adding to it as a plus, some days she wasnât able to eat anything whole day because of that. In addition to this her blackouts became more frequently, and she would faint regularly. Somedays Scarlett would be in such a bad mood and cry her eyes out until she fell asleep. These days were the worst ones for Severus, he would try his best to calm her down and ease her pain but after Scarlett fell asleep, Severus would go by the sea and cry there all by himself.
  Last week of November, Scarlett insisted to invite her children, her parents and Sirius to Naxos; saying that she wants to see them one last time. Those words stabbed Severus in the heart, and they had a small argument over it because Severus wanted her to believe that nothing will happen to her. But in the end Severus sent patronus messages to all of them, explaining the situation a bit. Scarlett havenât said anything about her illness to anyone still. When they got Severusâs message, all was panicked and couldnât understand what happened to her so suddenly. Her parents and Sirius apparated there in the same day with the message, Carina and Leo came in the night of the same day. Severus explained them her illness beforehand which did lead to an argument between them, they were angry that Severus hasnât said anything to them until this day even in secret from Scarlett. But in the end, they all realized that arguing wonât help anything and it was time to see Scarlett. She wasnât able to get out of the bed, so all went to see her in the bedroom. She was sleeping in the dark blue sheets which made her to look even paler than usual, her hair colour was the only lively thing on her at the moment.
Ricardus went over to his only daughter and woke her up by kissing her cheek softly. âWake up princess...â
âDad...â Scarlett looked at him sleepily and tried to sit up. âYou came.â When she realized all the people she wanted to see was in the room, her sad eyes sparkled with happiness. âYou all came!â
âOf course we did mummy!â Carina jumped on the bed to snuggle her.
âBe careful Carrie.â Leo warned her, he was extremely tense since he found out about his motherâs condition. Leo was the mummyâs boy since birth and he adored Scarlett in every way. Possibility of losing her was killing him.
âItâs fine Leo, come join us baby.â Scarlett held a shaky hand out for Leo who happily accepted it and snuggled into his mother too.
The air of the room was unexplainable, everybodyâs eyes had a sad expression when their lips were forced into a smile. They were trying to have a cheerful day just to make Scarlett happy but deep down all of them was crying internally. Especially Sirius, he was very silent. He was blaming himself for what happened to his Scarlett, he has put so much stress and pressure on her because of the fuckery they have been through. He had one job; protect his family and keep it together but he has failed terribly. Sirius shook these thoughts off and turned his attention back to Scarlett. They all took some photos together and talked for hours. Scarlett hasnât been that happy for a long time, she even ate some food with them. Her happiness calmed everybody down for a bit.
  The twins and Sirius have taken couple of days off from work so everybody would stay at the island. Severus was helping them to make the beds in the living room and the guest room, their house wasnât that big so Ric and Aurelia would stay in the guest room while Sirius and the twins were sharing the living room. While they were on this, Scarlett wanted to talk with Sirius privately. Sirius went back to the bedroom where Scarlett was and sat next to her; silver eyes met with the forest green ones for the first time in a while.
âSiri...â
âYes kitten.â He smiled softly at her.
âI want you to promise me one thing.â
âWhat is it?â
âWhen... when i am gone, please take care of Carina and Leo also yourself. I want to make sure that you all will be just as fine even i am not with you here no more...â
âNo no no, donât say such things. I donât wanna hear those, Scarlett.â Sirius held her hand tightly and kissed her knuckles. âWe will see our kidsâ weddings and have grandchildren; we will be the coolest grandparents! Where do you think you are going without doing any of these!?â Sirius joked but his eyes were filled with tears, he was having hard time while trying not to cry.
Scarlettâs lips trembled while the tears were running down on her cheeks. Her heart broke thinking that she wonât be able to see any of these events Sirius just said. âDonât buy little motorbikes to our grandchildren for their first birthday.â Scarlett joked trying to change the mood.
âAh damn, i was just thinking that!â Sirius laughed but shortly his laughter turned into sobs. He snuggled into Scarlett who was halfway laying, she wrapped one arm around him while playing with his hair with the other hand. This was the way how Sirius copes with sadness, he would rest his head on either Scarlettâs chest or lap and let her to play with his hair until he was calm again. But this time Scarlett cried with him too, they poured out all the sadness they held inside.
âMy lawyer will give keys to each of you when i d... you know; i prepared 4 trunks with the things i want to give you, the twins and Severus. They are in the basement of my house. When the time comes, take them okay...?â
Sirius didnât answer her question but instead he held onto her even more. Scarlett sighed but knew he would do what she asked him to do. She looked down at Sirius who was laying next to her, head rested on her chest. âI want you to know that, i was so happy with you and i didnât have any regrets. I think our friendship and marriage were more than just decent, they were perfectly splendid. I loved you very much Sirius Orion Black, i still do.â
Sirius finally looked up at her face, his cheeks were wet from the tears he shed; he sat up slowly. âScarlett Serafina Rose, i love you more and always will. You are the best thing ever happened to me. I am so so so sorry for all the times i made you sad, none of them were intentional... You are my one and only.â Without a thought, Sirius closed the gap between their faces and pressed his lips into hers. Familiar feeling of 26 years filled them but this kiss was different; it was a farewell kiss and both of them knew it. Their tears mixed into the kiss and Sirius couldnât take it anymore; he run out of the room crying.
Severus came to their bedroom soon after he saw Sirius run outside. âHow are you Scar?â He asked while changing into his pyjamas.
âGood, i guess...?â She had a weird feeling whole day since her loved ones came but she couldnât understand what; it was like she was cured in a day.
Severus turned off the lights before came to bed, but Scarlett turned on their bedside lights immediately. Severus raised his eyebrows, Scarlett hated to sleep in a lighted room even it was just a tinniest light. She noticed his confusion and explained. âI wanna see you...â
âWhy is that love? Did you miss me?â Severus hugged her and kissed her tear-stained cheek.
âI will miss you...â
Severus was about to ask her what she meant but before he could, Scarlett kissed him passionately. This took Severus by surprise; since Scarlettâs illness got worse, the only intimate moments they shared were soft and slow kisses. She slowly pulled away and whispered into his ear. âYou are my first, my last and my everything. I will keep your love evermore, Severus. I love you.â
Severus was used to Scarlettâs regular farewell talks by now and he hated them because they just hurt him even more but that felt different. When Scarlett looked into his night-like eyes, he got lost in hers; Severus always loved how big and meaningful her eyes were.
âTell me you love me...â Scarlettâs whisper brought him back to reality.
âI love you more than anything in the whole wide world Scarlett, you know that. You are my luck.â Severus kissed her one last time. Scarlett rested onto his chest then he started to sing their song âI Canât Help Falling In Love With Youâ to put her to sleep while playing with her hair. Her eyes closed slowly and she dived into a peaceful sleep.
  The next day a shriek woke everyone up; it was raining cats and dogs with loud thunders. The weather simply reflected everyoneâs feelings about today. They were planning to stay couple of days more but they changed the plan and took Scarlett to London with them. London days werenât any different, they were gloomy and smothery. Severus wanted to turn back to Naxos for Scarlettâs birthday, they have decided on celebrating it there this year and he wanted to make it happen.
  Severus was listening to a slow music from the record player and drinking some wine when his eyes caught the window, it was snowing for the first time this year in the island. Severus smiled happily thinking that Scarlettâs usual birthday wish was happening. Since it was midnight and officially her birthday, he ran up to their bedroom to wake her up and let her know about the snow. When he walked into the room, Scarlett was already awake in their bed. She was looking like a snow angel in her white satin sleeping gown, Severus grinned at her while moving the curtains aside.
âSurprise! Just how you wished for your birthday, love.â
âI havenât wished for snow this year, i have only wished to be able to celebrate it...â
âWe can start celebrations right now if you want, it passed midnight. Happy 56 my love!â
Scarlett didnât respond to him; she was staring at him rather sorrowfully. He leaned against the wall behind him to support himself.
âI am not here, all of this happening in your head Severus...â
Severus shook his head while whispering ânoâ constantly.
âI died that night in your arms... It was your scream to wake everyone up in the following morning... You all took me to London for my funeral...â
âSTOP! Please stop...â
Severus cried out while sliding down on wall to the floor. He buried his face into his palms and cried his heart out. When he calmed down, he kissed Scarlettâs promise ring which he was wearing on his pinkie now.
âI love you Scarlett... We will meet againâŚâ

A/n: ahhh this final chapter always makes me cryđ i donât know why i wrote it like thatâŚ

remus lupin x fem!reader
warning: Swearing, spelling/ grammar mistakes
summary: You and Remus have had a rivalry since the day you met, what happens when the two of you start to feel more?
word count: 3.1k
enjoy<3
__________________________________________
You and Remus Lupin had a⌠Complicated history, It wasnât anything really bad, just a childhood nemesis, someone to always be better than. That was all it was for a couple years, a strange rivalry between two children. It all began back during first year, in your very first Defense Against the Dark Art class. You were ecstatic to begin your very first lesson. You sat right at the very front of the room and quickly brought out and organized all your parchment, quills and textbooks, patiently folding your hands onto your desk and waiting with a smile on your face for class to begin. You heard a snicker behind you, and turned to see four boys enter the class, all laughing and whispering behind their hands, you turn back around as the professor walks into the room to begin the lesson.
âHey would you mind if I sat next to you?â you heard a small voice call from beside you as the professor scribbles something on the board. You look over to see one of the loud students whoâd entered the class, a sandy-haired boy with scars littering his face. âOf course,â you say with a smile, thinking this was a chance to make a new friend, but you were proven wrong when the boy simply nodded, put his stuff down and turned to the table beside theirs, to talk to the boys from before. You hid your disappointment by turning back to the teacher.
âWelcome to your first Defense Against the Dark Arts class students!â Professor Sterling, as you learned his name was, called out, âIn this class I will be teaching you about defensive spells and possible beasts you could face, to protect yourselves from the dangers of the dark arts, now!â He clapped his hands together. âWho can give me three examples of creatures that will be talked about in this class, hm?â He questions. Two hands shoot up. âYes Miss L/n?â He points to your hand. âBoggarts, Vampires, and Werewolves.â You state confidently, âGood, 5 points to y/h. Now, what about three spells that will be used in this class?â He questions again. The same two hands shoot up. âMr. Lupin?â He points to the boy next to you. âFlipendendo, Expelliarmus, and Verdimillious.â He replies, you drop your hand defeated. âSplendid! 5 points to gryffindor.â The boy smiles shyly. The class continues like this, the professor asking a question and the two of you racing to answer before the other. It was an unconscious thing, the two of you hadnât realized you were competing until you felt your heart race, as a question was asked, and the feeling of anger replacing disappointment when your hand wasnât picked. It was frustrating to say the least, you were so excited to show off your knowledge in this class and now here was this boy stealing your thunder. You could tell he felt the same though, the frustration in his face when Professor Sterling chose you gave it away.
By the end of the class you were almost seething, the only thing keeping you from hexing the boy was your common sense, and even that was running thin. You tried to keep your composure as you walked out of the class, but you were very obviously muttering curses under your breath. The only thing that got you to stop was the professor telling you on the way out of the class that you were a bright young witch, unfortunately followed by Lupin being complimented as well. You huffed.
That was how the rivalry between you and Remus began, youâd learned his name through Lily Evans, your first friend. She found it funny how competitive you were, not thinking youâd go this far on it. She spent a good chunk of her time prying books out of your hands or hearing you complain about Remus, and that happened a lot.
âIâm seriously starting to believe you fancy him, you speak about him so much!â She huffed out after a bad rant in your third year. âMe? And Lupin?â You scoffed and rolled your eyes. âI have no idea what youâre going on about.â But Lily could swear she saw a pink blush coming about on your cheeks and she knew for a fact that the warm fall air wasnât the cause, she smiled and decided to let this play out.
For four years, four fucking years, youâd been at it with Lupin and both of you showed no sign of stopping. At any time both you and Remus could be seen reading DADA textbooks, books, and journals of famous wizards, With one goal in your mind, to beat one another. The two of you both started strong in this competition, but you had to admit you were tired of this petty rivalry and really had no problem with Remus, but for some reason you just wouldnât let up, your competitive demeanor taking over every time you tried to resolve something with him. You decided it would be best just to slowly ease out of your tense situation with the gryffindor and try to focus on your studies instead of just beating Remus. You didnât raise your hand at every question, spent more time socializing over studying, and didnât make any sarcastic comments when he got an answer right, just simply continued on with the class. At first Remus thought he was victorious, that heâd finally beaten the y/h witch, deemed one of the brightest students at Hogwarts, and he was happy about it, but he felt he didnât really care. In fact he missed the constant banter with you. He didnât like the rivalry between you two either, but he still enjoyed playfully arguing with you over small things and seeing the competitive look in your eyes.
âL/nâs been pretty quiet recently,â James remarks, âI think you did it mate, I think you finally outsmarted her!â He laughs, clapping Remus on the back. The rest of the group looked unsure, especially Remus. Peter pipes up quietly, âI donât know James, I saw her notebook just yesterday and she already had everything about today's lesson written down, thereâs no way she couldâve been stumped.â Sirius rolls his eyes, âYou guys canât be that confused right?, y/n probably just got tired of this petty battle, theyâve been at it almost, what? Four years now? You canât say youâre not tired, can you Moony?â Sirius rolls his eyes. Remus remains quiet, thinking it over. âI guess not, but for some reason I almost miss it, at least she talked to me then.â Remus sighs leaning back onto the couch in the common room. It was no secret to the Marauders that the shy brunette had accumulated feelings for his little rival over the years, secretly looking forward to DADA classes for the soul purpose of seeing you.
âWell you could try talking to her, yâknow, normally?â James suggests with a shrug. Remus sighs âI guess, but you guys know I couldnât, I could possibly put her in danger, or, what if I lose control and hurt her or worse-â
Sirius scoffs, âOh sod off Moony, if this is about your, furry little problem, the last person youâd need to worry about is y/n, sheâs a master in Defense Against the Dark Arts, not only would she be fine with it, but she she probably knows all about werewolves! Hell, I wouldnât be surprised if she already knew.â Sirius finishes, avoiding his friendâs shocked eyes at his small outburst, but someone had to say it. âWell- you have to admit he has a point.â Peter says turning back to Remus. âIâve worked with y/n before for a project on werewolves bites, and she actually finds werewolves are misunderstood.â He continues.
Remus looks between his friends, and sighs, âI donât have a choice but to give this a go, do I?â James grins, âcâmon Moony, you know, you two are practically made for each other!â He nudges his best friend, wiggling his eyebrows knowingly. âJames!â Remus shoves his head into hands, a red blush coating his cheeks. âW-what should I even talk about? What if she doesnât want to talk? Maybe she still hates me and Iâd mess this all up if I talk to her!â Remus begins to ramble.
âWhat are you twats going on about?â A voice calls out, Lily emerges from the portrait door, oh no. âMoonyâs got a crush!â James calls out. Remus shoots James a death glare, cursing the fact he was head over heels for y/nâs best friend. âOh really? Whoâs the lucky girl?â Lily laughs, walking over to the other gryffindors. Remus speaks before James can say anything else. âIt doesnât matter! Haha, how are you Lily?â He tries to steer the conversation away from his love life, but is unsuccessful. âGood..? Remus, whatâs got you so nervous? I wonât tell, you know that.â
Oh, I donât know, she's your best friend that probably hates me, that I pretended to hate for 4 years, you know, just things I talk about on the daily. Remus thinks to himself sarcastically. Lilyâs mouth drops open. Oh shit he said that out loud.
âYou fancy y/n?â Lilyâs mouth remains agape. Remus winces, âMaybe? Is that a bad thing?â He questions, crossing his fingers for a good answer. âWell bloody hell Lupin, I did not see this coming thatâs for sure!â The red-head lets out a laugh. ây/n almost never talks about her love life though so I canât say much, just know that sheâs never hated you, just got caught up yâknow.â She plops down on the sofa across from the boys, Remus nods. âSo, when did this happen?â Lily questions fixing her eyes on the shy boy. âW-well itâs hard to say really,â Remus furrows his brows, in thought, one memory stands out.
âOne day, while I was studying, in second year I think, I noticed y/n sitting at another table scanning a textbook, and well, I felt different, she didnât seem like the annoying girl in Defence Against The Dark Arts anymore, she was beautiful, and from there it only got worse.â Remus feels himself think back to that day, how your hair cascaded perfectly down your face, and how your lips were slightly parted while you read. He remembered his heart speeding up before he dashed out of the library, very confused. âAw, thatâs so sweet Moony.â Sirius teases making kissy faces at his friend. Remus feels his face heat up again. âSirius quit teasing him, itâs cute!â Lily scolds the dark-haired Marauder, when suddenly her face lights up. âYou know, y/nâs in the library, right now, you should go down and talk to her!â Lily suggests. James stands up and tugs on Remusâs arm to pull him to his feet. âExcellent idea my Lily flower, letâs go now!â Sirius and Peter stand and follow behind, ignoring Remusâs small attempts at objection. Lily catches up to Remus and James as they make their way out of the portrait door.
âJust be casual Remus, everything will be okay.â She reassures. It didnât help Remusâs racing heart.
The group steps into the library and spots you at a table by a window, slowly scratching a quill against parchment. They walk closer to you and poke their heads around to look at you. You glance up at the Marauders, âUm, hi guys?â you greet awkwardly. âGood to see you y/n, hate to interrupt, but Remus wanted to talk to you.â James pushes the adorable brunette forwards before rushing off followed by Sirius, Peter and⌠Lily, you narrowed your eyes, what was going on? Brushing it off you look up at the gryffindor boy. âYou can take a seat if you want Lupin.â You offer, picking your quill up again. âOh, thanks y/n.â He sits in the chair right beside you. âNow how can I help you? If you need help with anything you can just ask.â You state scribbling down some notes in your notebook. âA-actually, um, Iâd just like to talk to you y/n, about⌠You.â Remus begins to panic, did that sound right? Oh Merlin he was an idiot. You turn to him with a shocked expression.
âMe? Um- sure Lupin, ask away I guess?â You give him a small smile, âas long as we can talk about you too.â You add, feeling bold. Remus lights up, âYeah, yeah. That sounds great! Alright, where did your love for Defense Against the Dark Arts come from?â He asks, genuinely interested. âOh,â Your eyes light up. âMy father is an Auror and throughout my childhood heâd tell me all about his adventures, and his victories fighting dark wizards and all that sort. I thought it was amazing, so I started to read all about it, wanting to be just like him once I grew up.â You grin broadly.
Your conversation continues, you talk about your childhoods, dreams, goals, ambitions and your favourite books. You learn a lot about the shy brunette boy you never really gave a chance too. You learn he has a love for chocolate, every single kind. He also loves books, enjoying muggle literature in particular, and that he also wants to become an Auror, to protect people and to help the world from dark magic. You found this very admirable and saw that little boy from your first DADA class in a different light. He wasnât the annoying boy who stole all your thunder anymore, he was the boy that was also just trying to follow his dreams and help the people he loved. You smiled as you listened to him go on about a book he was currently reading, watching his eyes sparkle and his smile widen, it was strange thinking of Remus this way, sure youâd thought the brunette gryffindor was cute, but youâd always tried to shut yourself down when you thought of anything more, so when you found yourself hanging onto his every word and glancing down to his soft pink lips every now and again, you knew something was up. Your past self wouldâve kicked you for this, but you found yourself giving into those inevitable feelings for Remus Lupin, and it just felt⌠Right. This change of heart left no doubt in your mind, and a light flush made its way onto your cheeks.
Remus couldâve sworn he was on cloud nine when he saw the beautiful pink blush come onto your cheeks, was he right? Did you feel the same? He was so happy to be talking to you about anything and everything that he didnât even realize the Saturday sun turned into night and soon Madam Pince was pushing them out the door. The two of you laughed, taking a walk around the castle, neither of you wanting the conversation to end. You decided to stay in the Clocktower Courtyard for a bit, sitting next to each other on a bench. Remus watches you stare into the night sky, he sees your face relax and he smiles when he sees you close your eyes and take a deep breath of the night air. He thanked his lucky stars there wasnât a full moon soon, or he wouldâve missed this magical day with you. He lets a couple words slip out of his mouth he didnât intend to say today. âYouâre so beautiful y/n.â He sees your eyes widen and your face go pink. âThanks Remus.â You say smiling back. Godric, his heart swelled when he heard you say his name. Not Lupin anymore, Remus. He felt himself lean in, years of yearning getting the better of him, and felt his forehead touch yours. âIâve fancied you since second year you know?â He confessed suddenly, âthat day you saw me run out of the library was the day I knew.â He saw a smile spread across your face. âOh Remus thatâs so sweet.â suddenly your eyebrows furrow. âListen, Iâm sorry about my arrogance. I was annoyed that you were just as smart as I was and I let a kidâs jealousy get in the way of really getting to know you and I want to apologize for that-â Remus cuts you off. âDarling, itâs alright, we were children, what matters is how you feel now.â Remus cups your hand in one of his, searching your eyes for any sign he should stop, âI- like you too Remus, I think I have for a while, just been to dumb to notice it.â You giggle, looking down at your interlocked hand. Remus places his fingers on your chin and lifts your face so youâre eye to eye again. He pauses, silently asking if this is alright. You nod and he grins, pressing his lips to yours, a rush of heat flows through your body and you're overwhelmed with happiness. Remus can feel heâs practically beaming into the kiss, he canât believe it, heâs kissing you, heâs actually kissing you! The kiss is chaste at first, but you soon cup his face and pull him closer to you, reaching behind his head to run a hand through his soft curls. Remus sighs at the feeling and you take the opportunity to explore his mouth with your tongue, taking in the taste of chocolate and minty toothpaste. You pull back after a couple seconds, taking steady breaths. âWow.â You murmur smiling at the boy in front of you. âCan we do it again?â Remus asks, still in a daze with a stupid grin on his face. You lean in again and can feel his lips brush yours before you hear whispers.
âMove over Pads, I canât see!â
âShove off James.â
âOw, Peter thatâs my foot!â
âOh My Godric they kissed!â
Thereâs a loud crash. You look over to see Sirius, James, Peter and Lily in a pile on the ground, all sporting guilty looks on their faces. âUm- Congrats you two! We were just heading back to the common rooms!â Lily stutters out, removing herself from the pile and quickly walking off with the rest of the group hot on her tail.
You and Remus look at one another before bursting into a fit of laughter, unable to get the look on the groupâs faces when they were caught out of your heads. Remus slowly stands up, offering a hand to you, âWe should probably get going, love. Itâs getting real dark.â You nod and take his hand. Remus pulls you close to him and you stand there for a couple more seconds, âYou know, I still donât believe this is happening, that this isnât a dream, youâre really here in my arms.â Remus confesses nuzzling his nose to yours. You smile gently and press a kiss to his lips. âWell, you better get used to it, cuz Iâm not going anywhere.â You quip gently, wrapping your arms slightly tighter around the handsome gryffindor. You can feel him tighten his arms around you as well. âThereâs nothing Iâd love more.â he whispers into your ear.

Iâll be by your side - Remus LupinxDaughter
Hi!! Wooow Iâm a slow writer XD To be fair though, I am graduating in June, so thereâs...quite a lot to do. Anyhow, this is part 3 of my imagine deal? so Iâd recommend reading that one and part two first. Remus is my favourite HP character, so this mainly focuses on the relationship between him and his daughter, but I guess itâs slight HarryxOC as well ;)
Deal? (Part 1) | Oh, darling... (Part 2) | Iâll be by your side (Part 3)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please note:
1: I donât own any of the gifs used, nor any already established characters, so credit to the authors and original creators - You have done a phenomenal job :)
2: English is not my native language, as I was born and raised in Sweden. I have, however, studied English for almost a decade, so I donât think itâll be a problem, I just thought Iâd let you know ;)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Word count: â 2200
Warnings: Battle of Hogwarts, Angst, Blood, Death :(
Enjoy! :)

âBut, dad! You canât go yourself and then expect me not to come along!â
âYes, Bree, I can, and I will!â
He was desperate to go join the rest of the Order, and searched frantically for his old coat.
âBu-â
âDarling, listen, this is not your fight, okay? Youâre staying with Tonks and Teddy this time, and Iâll-â
She had grabbed his coat and was holding it behind her back, out of her fatherâs reach.
âDAD!!â
Remus stopped for a moment and took a proper look at his daughter for the first time since receiving the message about the upcoming battle.
âLook, Iâm seventeen years old. Iâm an adult now, and most of my younger friends are fighting. Thereâs literally no reason for me not to!â
âThere is a perfectly good reason and you know that! Besides, your age is completely irrelevant! It wouldnât matter if you were fifteen or seventeen, twenty or thirty, I donât want you fighting!â
His voice was stern, which admittedly wasnât too uncommon, but it lacked the normal comedic undertone and not even a ghost of a smile could be seen on his face. This did make Breanna feel quite uncomfortable, but she was not giving up. She couldnât leave everyone else and just sit quietly on the sidelines. Surely he understood that, right?
âWell, Iâm sorry, but itâs not your choice to make. I know you donât like it, but Iâm going.â
She gave her father his coat and picked a jumper for herself, but stopped abruptly when approaching the front door. Remus had stepped in front of her, and pulled her into a tight hug.
âPlease, darling⌠I canât have you injured again - or worse! Stay.â
âDad, I promised you two years ago that I would pick my fights more wisely. We made a deal. And I am choosing this one.â
âBreanna, itâs not the same! Seeing you hurt back then caused me more pain than you could possibly imagine, but this will be worse. Far worse. An-â
âDonât you think I know that?â It wasnât her intention to snap at him, but they didnât have time for this argument. People were waiting. âI know itâs for real this time, it most definitely was two weeks ago, but I honestly thought you would have more faith in me. Iâm not five, okay?!â
âBree, don-â
She pulled out of his embrace, tied her shoes and apparated. Leaving him in the middle of an argument like that broke her heart. She knew the chances of them both making it out alive were low, unharmed close to none. They did, however, not have a choice. There was no time to waste. Voldemort could be attacking the castle this very moment, and Harry, Dumbledoreâs army and the rest of the Order would need all the help they could getâŚ
~~~
Breanna ran down the stairs, desperately searching for any familiar faces, and eventually spotted one she had really longed to see.
âHarry!!â
He turned at the sound of his name and smiled - really smiled - when their eyes met. They werenât more than a few feet away from each other, and it didnât take long before they met in the middle.
âBree! You alright?â They hugged each other tightly and enjoyed the feeling of safety, if only for a few seconds. âWhat happened to your arm?â
She followed his gaze and found her sleeve torn and shoulder covered in blood. It wasnât too bad though, she hadnât even noticed it before Harry pointed it out.
âI-I donât know, itâs fine. How are you feeling?â
He looked down at her and used a bloodied and scarred hand to push some of her hair behind her ear. He wanted to say âfineâ, but it would have been a lie.
âScaredâ, he admitted, âBut also ready. Letâs finish this, once and for all?â
She nodded. âYouâre right! How can I help?â
âWell, some people are trying to evacuate all the younger students through the room of requirement, think you could lend them a hand?â
âSure! Good luck Harold, see you!â
He shook his head at the nickname, but smiled nonetheless.
âRight, good luck. And Bree?â
âYeah?â
âStay alive, will you?â
âIâll do my best on one condition.â
âHmm?â
âYou do the sameâ
He gave her a nod before continuing up the stairs.
âAnd Harry, we donât have time for the full story, but if you run into my dad, let him know Iâm sorry, will you?â
~~~
Sure, Breanna loved Hogwarts, it was her second home, but this was proper chaos! Most of the younger kids were finally safe, but the battle was far from won. There were death eaters everywhere. She stumbled behind suit of armor, narrowly avoiding a flash of red light, and suddenly remembered something her dad had said the other night:
âIt is the quality of one's convictions that determines success, not the number of followersâ
She knew it was meant to work as motivation, but thinking about it now just made her feel sad. How could she be so stupid? She fought her way through the corridors, but after turning a corner, she found herself facing an empty hallway. A chill went down her spine as the booming voice of Lord Voldemort could be heard all throughout the grounds. He was ordering his followers to back down, hoping to get Harry to come directly to him. Great! Now she had two people to find before it was too late...
~~
Entering the great hall this time felt nothing like it had almost seven years ago. There were people everywhere. Students, teachers, children, former graduates and parents - all in this together, mourning, comforting and healing.
Breanna would have noticed Fred Weasley surrounded by the rest of his family. Neville and Oliver Wood carefully moving Colin Creevey out of the way. She would have seen all of them, had it not been for a certain old, brown coat in her peripheral vision.
Her world fell apart, she found herself unable to breathe and didnât realize she had sprinted towards her father before she felt two, strong arms wrap around her. Breanna struggled and tried to push them away, but didnât have enough strength to do so. She crumpled to the ground and was pulled into a tight embrace.
âBreeâŚâ, a soft voice mumbled. âIâm so sorry. Can you try to breathe slower, please? Deep and easy, alright.â
She realized that someone was speaking to her, but she didnât recognize the words. They held no meaning, almost as if he spoke a different language, or stood very far away. Breanna eventually stopped hyperventilating and tried to ease the shaking as she slowly turned to check who it was, sitting with his arms around her. Her eyes met a pair of emerald green ones.
âHarry.â, she whispered, still crying but trying to keep her focus on him. There was so much more she would have wanted to say, but she was unable to find the right words. âPlease tell me.... Tell me heâs no-...â
ââm sorryâ
They sat for a few minutes before Harry picked a small vial from his pocket and asked if sheâd be okay.
âBree, Iâm sorry, but I have to go. Itâs not over yet.â
She took a deep breath.
âItâs fine, I get it. Go. Iâd love a moment alone anyways.â
~~~
She sat by her fatherâs side for a while, but felt unable to look at him, not wanting to fully accept the reality of the situation. It was when the fifth person came up to her to give their condolences that she got up and left the great hall. She couldnât take it, and besides, it should be fine. The death eaters had left.
She walked the familiar path towards the Gryffindor common room, but nothing seemed... real. It felt like a nightmare, only this time she couldnât talk it through with her dad over a cup of tea. This time, nobody would be there to convince her it was just a bad dream.
This time, no one would wake her up⌠Â
The very moment that thought crossed her mind, a dark chuckle shattered the otherwise eerie silence.
âAvada kedavraâ
She barely had time to register Antonin Dolohov with his wand pointed in her direction before an intense flash of green light caused her world to go dark.
This time, she wouldnât wake up.
~~~
*Darkness*
*A flicker of light*
*A flicker of... hope*
*Warmth?*
~~~
It was a weird feeling. She didnât feel happy, but rather⌠at peace. She sat up slowly and let her eyes adjust to the brightness as two voices simultaneously asked:
âBree?!â
She turned around and found herself face to face with a rather tall, red haired wizard, and a slightly older man with longer brown hair.
âFred? Sirius?â
Fred skipped over and held out his hand, helping his younger friend to her feet. He immediately noticed her dried tears and pulled her into a tight embrace. Sirius remained a few feet away with a pained expression on his face, but was unable to stay quiet for long.
âWhat happened?â
Breanna pulled away and met her godfatherâs worried gaze.
âI⌠Itâs my fault. I thought all the Death Eaters had left the castle. They were waiting for Harry in the forbidden forest and I just needed some air...â
âDid Harry go?â
A couple Breanna had only seen in pictures, but knew to be James and Lily Potter, had appeared behind Sirius.
âIâm not sure. He left for Dumbledoreâs office about fifteen minutes earlier. Iâm sorry I didnât even try to stop him but, with all due respect, he would have gone anyways. Itâs impossible to change his mind once he decides on something.â
To her surprise, none of Harryâs parents looked very worried, but shared a smile instead.
âDonât worry, Breanna.â, said Lily gently, âHeâll know what to do when the time comes.â
âYouâve both come so farâ, added James, âThings will be fine in the end, and if theyâre not fine, then itâs not the end.â
âI hope youâre both rightâŚâ, she mumbled quietly, âsorry, but is dadâŚ?â
James smiled sadly and nodded before turning to call his old friend over, however Sirius got there first.
âOi! Moony! Get over âere.â
Remus had been discussing something not too far away, and Siriusâ comment made him chuckle as he approached the other marauders.
âEasy, Pads, you make it sound li-â
That was all he had time for, as two arms wrapped themselves tightly around his torso. He would have known who it was even without looking. Heâd recognize that hug anywhere. He promised himself he wouldnât cry, but all it took was one word.
one. single. word.
âDad!â
A single word before hot, salty tears filled his eyes. It wasnât possible!? He was completely lost for words. Didnât know how to react, what to say or what to do. He just stood there, his arms wrapped around his only daughter, unable to process the fact that she was⌠dead. They both were.
âDad, Iâm so so so sorry! I shouldnât have shouted, I shouldnât have taken my anger or fear out on you and above all I shouldnât have left!?! I⌠I..â
âBreeâ
âAnd now Teddy wonât have his father-â
âBree!!â
âAnd I swear I tried to find you, but I couldnât and then it was too late and itâs all my fault a-â
âBreanna Lupin!!!â
She fell silent but didnât let go.
âIâm s-â
âDarling, calm down! Whatâs done is done, alright. I still wish you hadnât gone, especially given the apparent outcome, but I understand. Are you okay? Nothing broken?â
âNo, Iâm good, actually⌠Nothing hurts at all, but-â
âGood!â He pulled away and put his hands on her shoulders. âWould you mind letting me in on what happened?â
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, not really wanting to talk about the last few hours, yet knowing she owed her father that much.
âI⌠I entered the great hall and saw⌠you. I donât quite know what happened, I just⌠broke. Then Harry showed up and we just hugged, I guess?â
Lily and James looked at each other and smiled.
âThen we both left and Dolohov appeared out of nowhere and⌠well thatâs that.â
Remus shook his head sadly, immediately understanding the true meaning of his daughterâs words. HE was duelling Dolohov earlier that night. HE lost that duel. Had he won then maybe, possibly, she would still be alive too. His fault... as always
âRemus? Rem?â, James mumbled, putting an arm around his friendâs shoulders, âItâs not your fault. You tried, and thatâs the best either of us can do.â
~~~
Things didnât go according to plan, but perhaps they were the way they were always meant to be.
Her body next to her fathers, as they rested peacefully in the great hall. Her soul next to her father, as they wandered through the deep valleys of Nangijala, awaiting the day lost friends and lovers would come join them. No matter in this life or in the next;
Iâll be by your side

The discovery
in which Sirius, Peter and James confront Remus about where exactly he goes each month
TW: panic attack, self deprecating thoughts, implied mentions of abuse but not really (idk if these actually need a tw but just bear these in mind when reading <3)
âWhere are they?â Remus groaned.
Sighing, he turned his attention from his trunk to his bedside table, pulling open the drawer and rifling through, looking for his fluffy socks. âI know I left them in here!â
Although he would often get teased for it, âwho wears socks to bed, Rem, thatâs literally the weirdest thing Iâve ever heardâ, Remus knew that âmy feet get cold, okay, Sirius? Stop judging me.â
Just as his hand closed around a freshly folded pair of fluffy socks, a triumphant grin spreading across his face, he heard a small cough from behind him.
âUm, Rem? Can we talk?â a tentative voice asked.
Remus, looking up at the sound of his name, took in the sight before him: Sirius, Peter and James, his best mates, standing shoulder to shoulder, looking as if this was the last place they wanted to be.
Furrowing his brows, Remus answered, âUm, sure? Whatâs going on?â
The three of them glanced at each other, none, it seemed, wanting to start. Dread settled in Remusâ stomach as he wondered what had happened.
âSpit it out. I wanna go to bed.â Remus prompted.
Finally, James seemed to work up the courage to speak, and, taking a deep breath, he started, âOkay, thereâs no beating around the bush here. We want to know where you go each month.â
Remus felt his stomach lurch in fear as he looked at each of his friends in turn, each face holding the same curious, yet worried, expression. Gathering his thoughts, he reminded himself that there was no way the conclusion they must have come to, was the truth.
So, he replied, âWhat do you mean? I already told you, Iâm visiting my mum.â
âYeah, and we know you told us sheâs ill, but⌠every single time, you come back looking just as sick as she apparently is.â Peter piped up.
âAnd you never talk about it outside of your visits. Plus, she seems perfectly fine in your letters from home. And, no offence, Rem, but you're not exactly the best liar; it is kinda obvious.â James added.
And then Sirius chimed in, âAt first we thought something⌠bad⌠was going on at home, and that was why you always look like youâve got bruises and new scars when you come back each month, but youâre always going on about how much you love your parents, and it didnât particularly make sense that you would keep going back.â
At this, Remus cut in, âWhat are you saying, guys?â He paused, trying to collect himself, and then continued, âEverythingâs fine at home. I donât know what youâre going on about.â
âI think you do.â James raised his eyebrows. âWe know everythingâs fine at home now; it just didnât seem right when we thought about it. But we donât think youâre going home at all.â
Remus was panicking now. Here were the only three friends heâd ever had, mere inches away from discovering his secret. He couldnât handle this. What was he thinking? It had been a terrible idea coming to Hogwarts in the first place. He should have known. Being around other people would never have worked. It was too risky for him to try to make friends and yet he had done it anyway, like a fool. But it was too late now. He was in too deep. Even though the three boys were complete idiots sometimes, and, frankly, quite annoying, he couldnât imagine what he would do if he lost them. He never should have let himself get attached.
After a few seconds of silence, Sirius braved the waters, and cautiously looked up at Remus. âWeâve been thinking, and⌠Rem, it canât be a coincidence that every month, when you disappear, itâs⌠itâs on a full moon.â
âTell us weâve gone down the wrong path, and weâll stop bothering you.â James gently said, after Remusâ eyes widened. âBut I donât think we have, have we?â
Remus was too shocked to answer. All he could do was stand there, his jaw working desperately, his eyes frantically darting between each of his friends, all of whom he would now never see again. He stuttered for a moment, before giving up, hoping that they werenât saying what he thought they were saying.
âRemus,â Peter asked softly, âare you a werewolf?â
Remusâ whole world tilted on its axis. The long-forgotten fluffy socks, which Remus had been, absent-mindedly, gripping onto for dear life, now dropped to the floor. As the three boys watched the socks hit the ground, realisation dawned in their eyes.
âOh, RemâŚâ Sirius whispered, genuine concern spreading across his face.
But Remus couldnât hear him. The blood had drained from his face as his head span like a hurricane. This is it. Itâs over. I had a good run. Iâve got no choice but to leave, donât I? Theyâll tell everyone, and then the gigâs up. No one wants to go to school with a monster. Their parentsâll probably write to Dumbledore. Better for me to just go home now, before everyone starts complaining. I guess Iâm being home-schooled again. I wonder what Mumâll say.
The thoughts flew around his mind, brewing like a storm cloud. But there was one in particular that sliced through the storm like a shard of glass. I was the happiest Iâve ever been with you. He couldnât remember ever smiling so much before he had come to Hogwarts. Even his own father hardly looked at him anymore. But that didnât matter, because he had found a new family in these three boys, who were standing before him and shifting their feet uncomfortably. He genuinely looked forward to waking up each day, just because he knew he got to spend it with them.
But even that had been snatched away from him; his fate would never change. He was destined to be alone forever. The sooner he accepted that, the sooner he could move on. He had had no business inserting himself into these boysâ lives and calling himself their friend. Soon they would shut him out, just like everyone else had.
He barely registered the looks of uneasiness that passed between his friends. Former friends, he reminded himself. They wonât even be able to look me in the eye now. Why on earth would they want to be friends with me?
Theyâll never see me again now anyway.
Iâll never see them again.
This is it.
Itâs over.
As the realness of the situation hit, Remus stumbled backwards, as the room span around him, until he hit a wall. Gasping for breath, he brought himself back to the present, and his back slid down the wall until somehow, he was sitting on the floor. He drew his knees up to his chest, and buried his face in them, tears streaming down his cheeks. He didnât notice the three boys sinking down to the floor with him, until he felt a hand on his shoulder, which he automatically flinched away from.
âShit, Rem⌠Iâm so sorry. Are you okay?â James seemed genuinely concerned.
No. Why would he be concerned? Heâs only asking me that cause if I have a heart attack right here, which seems pretty damn likely, theyâll all feel responsible.
Jamesâ question didnât even process in Remusâ brain, which was desperately trying to slow down and stop spinning; the world still seemed to be tilting, and he was getting dizzy.
Suddenly, everything seemed to kick in more, and as Remus tried to take in a deep breath, the air caught, and he found himself fighting for oxygen. He was full-on sobbing at this point, which he normally never would have been doing in front of people; however, at the moment, everything around him had blacked out, and he couldnât seem to think clearly.
It wasnât until someone to his left enveloped him in a hug, rubbing circles into his back and whispering soothing words in his ear, itâs okay, Rem⌠weâre here⌠weâre not going anywhere⌠breathe in through your nose⌠and then out through your mouth⌠thatâs it⌠youâre okay⌠youâre here⌠everything will be okayâŚ, that he managed to finally suck in some air.
Gradually, everything slowed down; the room stopped spinning, his mind stopped racing, and his vision seemed to clear. Blinking feverishly, he took in three faces staring at him, eyes wide and panicked, hands unsure where to place, legs awkwardly crossed beneath them as they tried to comfort Remus.
Sirius was still rubbing soothing circles on his back, and eventually, he felt his heart rate slow down.
As his mind cleared, he realised just how serious this was. If this got out, which it undoubtedly would, he would have to be completely cut off from society. He had known it was only a matter of time before his dormmates found out, but he thought he had longer. He thought he would have more time.
Looking up at the concerned faces before them, he took a deep breath and mustered up the courage to say, in as indifferent a voice as he could muster when he had just had a very public panic attack, âSo, I guess the secretâs out. Iâll start packing my things then.â He couldnât bring himself to meet their eyes and try to gauge their reactions; he already knew that they would be filled with relief at the prospect of not having to share a dorm with a monster any longer.
Just as he was pulling away from Sirius and leaning onto his heels to stand up, he felt a hand on his knee.
âAnd why on earth would you be doing that?â Peter asked, his hand holding Remus in place.
Remus raised an eyebrow. âWell, it would be better for me to get ahead of this. So, Iâll leave now before everyone finds out and makes me leave anyway.â
âWhat makes you think everyoneâll find out? Weâre not gonna tell anyone if thatâs what youâre worried about.â James said, with a tilt of his head.
âYeah, we donât care that youâre a werewolf. We just wanna make sure youâre okay.â Sirius piped up.
Remus looked at the three of them in turn, his mind filled with suspicion, before narrowing his eyes. âNo. Thereâs a catch. Thereâs always a catch. No oneâs just okay with something like this.â
âWell, we are. Come on, Rem, weâve known you for, what, three years now? You really think this changes how we think of you? You really think we would out you to everyone?â Siriusâ expression was steely and defensive, but his eyes held hints of hurt.
âYes. Yes, thatâs exactly what I think, actually. Thereâs no way youâre not gonna look at me differently. Everyone does. No, itâs better for me to leave. Itâs not like you guys actually care about me all that much, so-â
âSeriously? We âdonât careâ about you? And thatâs why weâre sat on the floor with you, is it?â James shot back.
âYeah, Rem, the floor is literally made of stone. My arse is bloody freezing.â Peter complained.
âNot where I was going with that, but youâre not wrong, Pete. Listen, Remus. Of course we care about you. The whole reason we found out about this was because we were worried about you. Every single month, you leave for the night, and come back in the morning with bruises and fresh scars. Did you really think we wouldnât notice? Remus, youâre literally our best friend. This doesnât change the way we think of you at all. And itâs shitty that you immediately assume it would, and that needs to change. But we canât help you until you let us in.â Jamesâ eyes were full of sincerity, and Remus almost found himself believing what he said.
âAnd that goes for all of us, Remus. Let us help you.â Sirius gripped his hand as he spoke, squeezing it tightly.
Remus looked around at his friends sitting before him, at the earnestness on their faces, and finally, at his hand, intertwined with Siriusâ.
Slowly, he nodded, and his next word came out in a whisper, his voice cracking.
âOkay.â
Bonus:
âOk, I know weâre like, having a moment here, but, like, seriously, Remus? Did you really think weâd be scared of you? You fold your socks, for Christâs sake. Youâre literally the least scary person I know!â For emphasis, Peter groped around for the abandoned folded fluffy socks, holding them up to eye-level as he spoke.
âActually, I have to disagree, Pete. I think heâs absolutely terrifying. This one time, I saw him folding his dirty washing. Itâs gonna get crumpled up anyway! Scared me shitless.â Sirius joked, looking up at Remus with eyes full of mirth.
James hummed in agreement. âGoing back to what Peter said, though, I canât believe you thought that? If anything, Iâm more scared of Dorcas than I am of you, and thatâs saying something, because sheâs a literal human teddy bear.â
Remus shook his head as he chuckled. âShut up,you guys.â
